Until some issues are resolved why not give admins the right to ban anyone they want?

Recommended Posts

So they can ban hackers, dupers, and DCers at will. Sure they might cast too wide a net or abuse their power, but at this point it seems like it's getting impossible to play this game because of the amount of bullshit that goes on. Disruptive/lame players > admin abuse when it comes to game breaking..... at this point the game is in alpha - let the admins police their turf until BI is able too.

"Until some issues are resolved..."

Not until we've resolved admins abusing their powers.

I don't know if you've played recently, but admins abusing their power would be totally acceptale by me if it meant we could cut the number of hackers in half.

Because they would ban everyone but there friends....

1. It would be very easy to show that they are being blatantly abusive and have them blacklisted.

2. It would be very easy to go to a server without abusive administrators.

3. It would cost you, and all other players, less time and resources than having to deal with hackers teleporting and killing you.

Servers with jerks will die quickly, servers with decent people banning cheaters will prosper.

Why is everyone assuming that by giving admin powers to.. well ADMINS that they will all of a sudden Ban everyone but their friends.

Sheesh, has no one ever hosted or played any other game besides DayZ? Those server where admin abuse is rampant are DEAD and with DayZ having Blacklisting those server would get black listed.

But servers with legitimate bans on hackers, combat dcers and other definite kickable offenses would prosper and this game wouldn't be so fucking ridiculous with the HUGE AMOUNT of hackers out there. Its ridiculous at how many people are hacking; Stop turning a blind eye and let Admins Administrate their server.

Dont give them god powers, just give them admin powers to kick for easily kickable offenses

People act like every admin on the face of the earth is out to ban everyone. I ban alt f4ers, hackers, hacked weapon users and ghosters from my server. They're warned on the MOTD that scrolls. I spend 95% of my time in DayZ catching hackers as it is now. So if I'm going to get blacklisted for protecting my server so be it. I'd rather do it knowing that I did everything I could to keep my place a reliable safe place to play. I can barely go an hour on my server without some idiot breaking legs, nuking, mass teleporting, etc. The best anti-cheat right now is the banhammer.

There's a difference between an admin and a kid with power. An admin can admit mistakes, look at situations without reacting immediately, take in all variables of a situation and hash them out as they need to be done. My server has had plenty of hackers, but we have people who are weary to ban people rather than people who are actively attempting just that. We had an incident when someone killed us and we brought our online clan members to a pretty nice fire fight (4v4 or something like that) but when we cleared the field and these guys came back with AS-50's and Ghillie Suits (we just did a restart to bring back a vehicle that despawned out of nowhere) we knew something was up, after a few other variables were thrown in and some more obvious things occurred, then we banned, we didn't ban right on the immediate suspicion.

My point is that someone who's been properly shown how to be an admin will be infinitely better than someone who was just given power and a banhammer.

Find a good server, stay with them, or get your own. Those are your options.

Its the only anti-cheat. And they can blacklist my server too, if thats what they want to do. Its bad enough I'm doing all this unpaid server administration which is well above and beyond the call of duty, simply to try to deal with the absolutely unending army of people using script suites to fuck up everyone on my server, the real crime here is I'm paying to do this "job" and, the DayZ people will, in theory, ban my server, cause I'm trying to keep the fucking place clear of asshole exploiters who are ruining the experience for everyone else.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Rocket and Co. want servers where hackers can run rampant and never be banned, then they better put up the money for those servers. Meanwhile, I will continue to ban every motherfucker that makes playing legit on my server impossible...for everyone that actually WANTS to play legit on it. Simple as that.
