Hurrdhurr 0 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Ehm, where is he so wrong ? Maybe it's true that the eye as an organ is able to see higher frequencies. But who the f*** cares when your brain can't process that information to any benefit ? Neither your health benefits of it, nor your gaming experience will get noticeably better with FPS above 60. That's a well known gamer's fact.Have you ever tried playing with a 120 hz screen, getting a consistent 120 fps or higher? It's a clear difference. Maybe not in arma 2 since it is a slower paced game where split seconds don't matter as much, and mouse movement is pretty damn unsmooth to begin with, but believe me, when playing faster games it really makes a difference in how responsive it feels, just navigating in windows feels more smooth in 120hz, and that is not placebo effect. It's true that it doesn't make a big difference, but if you play competitively with highly skilled players those tiny differences can make the difference between losing a fight or winning. Mr. AWOL 2 Posted August 6, 2012 I have been having issues with frame rate also. I would get as low as 9 in cities especially Cherno. But I read that it all depends on the server you are in. I wish I could keep above 60 fps but I'm happy I can play. I looked up what should be my settings for the Nvidia and changed them accordingly. And messed with my in-game settings and achieved the 60 fps in a server. But it was a low pop server which could have been a factor. I have a GeForce 9800gt and it shows arma 2 running as fair with my card. Would like a better card but funds are tight:-/
HMS 115 Posted August 6, 2012 Thanks - I didn't want to load up FRAPS, but was hoping there was a console command I could enable like on Source games.24/25/30/32 FPS is the bare minimum we can watch and still labor under the illusion that it is a real moving image. We can and do take full advantage of higher frame rates, particularly because we are interacting with it, but it will take way too long to explain why.
