how do you know if it will be night or day

depends on servers set timezone. Dayz commander will show you the servers time

Both. It depends on the time of day on the location of the server. Night is dark. Day is a bit lighter. You will see the difference.

If it's dark, It's night.

If it's light, It's day.

If the server is in Los Angeles, it will be the current time of Los Angeles. The servers time zone is the in-game time zone. Er... Does that make sence?

server's that's all most full most likely will be day time. not many peps like to play at night

not true. i played already on several LA located servers which had GMT+2 timezone settings.
