My Adventures so far... (also looking for a posse!)

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've been playing DayZ for about a week now, it's been a hell of a ride so far. Some of the highlights of my often short lived survivor's time in Chernarus have included:

Part 1: Happy Ending Mugging

Within my first hour of playing, I was mugged at night in a barn by two guys. This was before I knew DayZ used a 'real time' day/night system.

After a long, trek from my spawn point, not having a clue where I was going, I finally managed to ditch the small army of zombies on my trail and headed for refuge in a lone barn which turned out to be filled with dead soldiers, as well as having a hatchet on the floor. I equipped the hatchet and planned to sit in the corner until it "got light outside".

I hadn't been settled down for 5 minutes when all of a sudden, the barn doors swung open and two guys stormed in. One British sounding guy gets on voice and starts saying "Friendlies, friendlies, don't shoot!" (don't worry, I have a hatchet and a bandage, you're safe lol). The other guy, who sounds Swedish, instructs me to "drop the axe and turn round!". I comply and turn round to face the barn wall, everything's pitch black and silent, I wait for a minute, expecting a bullet to the head at any moment.... Nothing.

I eventually turn around and they're nowhere to be seen, they even closed the barn door as they left. My axe is gone, but what's this.... On the floor where I'd placed my axe, there's a silenced pistol with about 20 rounds of ammo... What the hell?! Coolest 'mugging' ever, cheers guys!

Part 2: The Supermarket Shootout

I find myself in a desolate town. I've managed to scrape together a healthy amount of medical supplies and food and drink. I'm feeling confident armed with my winchester and 30 rounds of ammo, and to complete the look, I'm even wearing a ghillie suit which I found in a shed. I feel like a total badass.

I prone my way through the town, avoiding the attention of zombies and looking for more supplies. A small supermarket type building catches my eye and I make my way over. Just as I reach the entrance, I spot a survivor inside wearing shades, he appears to be picking up some stuff. I observe him for a few seconds, then he turns around to meet my gaze. For a brief moment, we're both frozen in place, equally surprised at the sight of another survivor. Just as I go to run towards my fellow survivor, he pulls up a pistol and fires a shot which misses me by inches and richochets loudly nearby.

I'm surprised and slightly enraged, but I remain calm. Maybe he's a newbie like me and just a bit tense. Maybe it was just a warning sho.... *peow* Nope. Definitely not a warning shot, the cheeky little bugger has popped his head round the corner and taken a second shot at me. Ok, f**k this, it's on.

I crouch beside a nearby bin and aim at the spot he popped his head out of before, I don't have to wait long. As soon as his head appears for another look, I take a shot. I can't tell if I've hit him, but I guess he doesn't want to play any more. I watch as he turns and attempts to leg it out of the side door to safety. Sorry bud, not today!

I give chase, and dart inside the building and into the side room. He's scrambling around, caught on some fallen over cabinets and shelves. I clumsily take a few point blank shots at him before he manages to find his footing and dart out the back door. I position myself in the door frame and watch as he runs across the road. I bring my winchester up, peer down the crosshair and fire a clean shot directly into his spine. He instantly drops dead on the kerb. Sucker.

Part 3: Death Bus

Another remote town, large and teeming with zombies. I've only got a hatchet and some medical supplies. I've been making my way from building to building without much luck. It seems I can only find flares and ammo for guns that I'll probably never find.

As I search the downstairs floor of an abandoned concrete building, I hear an eerie alarm sound echoing outside. My first thought is that it's perhaps another survivor, or even a group of surviviors searching for fellow survivors! Despite the haunting sound, I'm filled with hope and curiosity and rush out into the streets and attempt to head towards the sound.... But wait a minute, the sound seems to be getting further away as I get nearer... Just as I'm wondering what's going on, I see a BUS speeding down the road ahead. What the f**k?! This is no alarm, it's some lunatic driving around in a bus beeping the horn repeatedly.

Slightly shocked by the revelation, I decide to pursue the bus, maybe I can make a friend, or at least attempt to trade some supplies. It takes me a good 5 minutes to finally catch up with the vehicle, and I've even equipped my torch so I'm not mistaken for a bandit.

The bus reaches a dead end and begins to clumsily turn around, I stand in the middle of the street so the driver can see me and then I begin frantically turning my torch on and off in an attempt to signal that I'm not hostile. The bus heads towards me, I'm sure I've been noticed. I'm excited to meet this mysterious bus driver in such a hostile, remote town, I'm sure he'll be interested to hear about me and my adventure so fa.... *splat*. F*****g psycho ploughs through me at 40mph.

The End

Anyway folks, those are a few of the interesting things that have happened so far. As you can tell, my encounters with other humans in DayZ usually end in bloodshed and death. I've also been sniped in the ass to death whilst crawling through a town. It's tough being a lone wolf, so I'm hoping to find a few people to team and do some hardcore suriving and exploring with. I'm in the UK, so I usually play on EU servers. I don't really want to fill out an application for a clan, just looking for a few other players who play quite a bit and want to group up. Reply here or add me on steam if you're interested (RMXK).

Cheers!
