Almost a million unique ids playing...

A few hundred here talking about its a problem.

Is it really a problem or more of a nuisance?

You decide..

1 million unique ID's created, only 180k played in last 24 hours.

Statistics, 95% of them are made up

I've never seen anyone outright deny the existence of hackers.

What I see people rationally claim is that:

  • It's not nearly as ever-present and dominating as some thread titles would have us believe and can be mitigated relatively quickly by simply switching servers, and:

  • It should not necessarily be a critical priority for the development team at this time due to the relatively imminent release of DayZ's stand-alone version which will most certainly change the way client scripting works and disable 99.9% of the "hacks" that are in play at the moment.

We're not saying there aren't any hackers; all we're saying is calm down and deal with it by changing servers periodically because it makes no sense for the development team to sink hundreds of man hours until solving this problem on an engine they're about to abandon in two months anyway - throwing all that work out the window in the process.

no one is saying it isn't happening, just that it isn't as widespread as threads like this seek to suggest.

If I'm experiencing, minimally, an intended death by a hacker once within each 24 hour period of my playing (and not playing all day, every day), on servers I try to go to to avoid hackers, I'd say that your version of it not being "widespread" and 99% of other people's would be ridiculously off. So off, in fact, that I now consider you a troll.

The adults that play this game liked it, or would like it, for the realism it should have. Dying four times in a day to hacks, or even my daily Thunderdome, means I can't even get to one end of the map in one evening's playing time anymore (because I'm teleported back to the north-west airfield, spawned 100 feet in the air, or teleported to and killed on a server with only two other guys on it).

Enough with the fake denials already, buddy; it isn't funny, and you aren't credible.

This thread is about as effective as "Raise cancer awareness" advertisements.

Then it should be stickied considering my wife found her breast cancer early enough because of those ads making people self aware.

OP, you're telling me that the guys who shot me here and there were probably hackers and I should feel even more scared than before ? In that situation I think I should definitely be scared and create useless topic every single time something weird happen to me for the rest of my gaming experience.

Wait, what was the point of your topic exactly ? Beside not having any I mean ?

His point was, hackers destroying this game.Einstein.

I killed a hacker named "Kyle" this week ... he had an AS50 TWS with 45-round magazines for it! I felt dirty using it so I put it on a dead zombie and buried it.

Each time the issue of hacking is brought up, about half the people shrug it off "I've never seen any hacking".

It's such a common theme, people denying it exists because they personally haven't seen it.

Or to a lesser extent, admitting it's a problem, but diminishing how serious of a problem it actually is because they think they haven't seen it or have only seen it once or twice.

When I make my posts and say things like this it has absolutely nothing to do with what you mentioned. I experienced it for the first time last night. Got randomly teleported to the NW airfield with everyone else. I was able to DC and get out with my life as soon as it happened. I count myself lucky on that one.

I never deny that it exists, as I've seen it in other games, and yes it is a huge problem in this game. But in all honestly, sitting here pissing and moaning about it isn't helping anything. It's not like for every post we make about it the devs get a shock or anything. I'm sure they know about it and it's not an issue with DayZ, but rather the BattleEye anti-cheat client. So....what's the solution then? Get another anti-cheat? Yell at BattleEye to fix it? No matter what the solution is, it's not something that can be done overnight.

All in all, I agree with Deviant, this seems like more of a "Raise awareness" event every time these get posted.

I'll leave you with a comment an old friend of mine used to say:

You're pissed off with an issue, great, now what are you going to do to change it? Because that's the honest way it works. You can either sit and wait, pissing and moaning, or you can try and do something to change the situation.

The 'hacker loadout' ( .50 cal, M4A1 silenced, NVG, rangefinder, wookie outfit).

You're calling a lot of people "hackers" then.

Few things:

1. They're crackers/script kiddies, not hackers.

2. The "hacker loadout" you mentioned is a bunch of bull. With all the duping going on, finding one camp or killing one player results in almost full end game gear.

3. Server Admins can apply certain "fixes" to their servers to prevent certain aspects of exploitation - message your fellow server admin and ask if they can enhance their server.

Agreed, if I find tents in the North East, it's either clans who worked their way to good gear for me to steal or others who scripted or duped their way to good gear for me to steal, and one time a tank for me to take a joyride in.

The only reason script kiddies do shit like the thunderdome and the server nuke is so they can come on the forums and read QQ threads like this. I have lost count of how many threads or posts OP has made about hackers, everytime i see this guy on here he's talking about them, giving them the attention they want. You moan about how the hacker issue needs to be fixed yet you feed into it yourself.

Face it, they're not going to solve the issue because it's a waste of time, they're going standalone so why would they bother configuring a solution for an engine they plan on dumping?

Like others have said, script kiddies exist but they're nowhere near as prevalent as people claim, i've played for 2 months and the only scripting i have seen is a spawned heli when they were still disabled.

Also don't apply the stigma of script kiddy to anyone with the best gear, it just so happens i have the same load out and more in my tents through legitimate means on a character that has been alive for 24 days. Calling anyone with good gear a script kiddy is just childish and makes it hard to take your point seriously.

If people say they have never seen any hacking...maybe it's because they've never ducking seen any hacking?

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

So it's like a delayed pay off for them?

They kill a few people in game then jerk off while they read the forums? Well...I see.

Also, I never said anyone with good gear is a cheater.

I pretty much always have an As50, because cheaters are so common.

Killed one with an axe yesterday... he spawned beside me 5 minutes later and shot me with a m240.

Boy, he showed me.

Of course hacking is a problem but it's down to the developers to fix it. All we can do is suffer and complain, right?

I didn't see any "hacking" for awhile myself but knew it was around due to the forums, it's gotten worse from my observations and in my opinion over the past month or two after the cheat sites started to offer those easy to use script console command setups I've seen videos on.

If you haven't been a victim yet, you will be eventually if you play a lot, these guys seem to jump servers looking for the most victims to harass and why I have given up on "caring" about my characters and gear, I just fight/play until I die and do it over again, most of my toons don't even get past the 3 hour mark since I PvP a lot anyways.

When news of Lingor Island got out, they came there too, so nowhere is safe unless you have a private and password protected server now it seems. I don't care if rocket doesn't like private servers, the game this mod is on top of is too easy to mess with and why I think the number of private servers have gone up lately (Seen a lot). Hell my clan just started a private lingor island one so we can explore the Fing map in peace.

I met a guy over teamspeak who was an obvious hacker, trying to conceal it.

We were messing around in 3 Hilux's he 'found' and picked up two survivors we also 'found' who were totally not marked on the map for him.

He then also totally didn't crash the hilux and then spawn another in front of the guy he picked up. And he definitely didn't do it another 2 times in the next 5 minutes while continuing to crash into things. And then two Hueys totally didn't materialise in front of us.

And then he totally didn't have to 'eat dinner' for 6 hours after battleye updated.

It was cool though, we were all having fun not ruining any one else's experience. The two guys we picked up added me on steam and told me it was the most fun time they've ever had.

I've never experienced the server-wide death ring thing, but I've seen it in streams.

The two experiences for me that stand out are pretty blatant. Fully auto m203 spam while my friend and I were riding bikes on the edge of the map (9 or so shots at a time every 5 seconds) was the first. Then Saturday we take out two guys near Prud, and a car horn starts going off pretty much on top of one of our group. We start accusing each other of having a horn (I found one at one point on a player I killed who got the jump on me with a L85) and eventually caught on to the fact that it was an invisible guy when bear traps started spawning all around us. We all logged and went to a different server with broken legs...after changing our profile names of course.

Youre doing the same thing. Because you personally have been affected by hacking, you are assuming its a very big problem. Unless someone does a large study on it polling a wide range of Dayz players (not dayz forum users) no one can say if hacking is a bigger problem than anything else, because all we have are anecdotes. You can say it MIGHT be, but claiming you KNOW anything is arrogant and stupid.

While hacking is a problem, I'm willing to bet that its a common issue, however the kill everyone in the server is a less common example/extreme of it. I bet most the hacks are the spawning stuff in or changing play skins (some of the us army and usmc skins/man types were still enabled in the patch before singleplayer was disabled.)

Know the only reason I say this is because a week or two ago, I seen some humvees(could someone provide the correct spelling of the acronym?), and some helis prior to them being brought back.

Hmmm i think i might look into setting up a private server. Thanks for the idea.
