Endgame ends game - Sniper whoring, ALT+F4'ing, server hopping

Few issues I personally have with the "endgame" of DayZ, and my suggestions on how to improve it.

Note: I recognise that perhaps some of these suggestions are not possible to really make the game "fair" as it seems Arma2 is extremely hackable and DayZ needs to be reinvented with a different base game or standalone to avoid this critical flaw. I make these suggestions more to contribute to the discussion process for a future DayZ or DayZ-like game.

Sniper whoring:

The current prevalence and problem of sniper whoring could be subdued by removing the high-tech sniper rifles, such as those with thermal and NV scoping and the AS50 which is ridiculously OP. I would like to keep the more "rustic" models of snipers, and increase the difficulty of use.

Furthermore, no weapon in the game should be one shot kill (unless it's a headshot or maybe chest for some rare, high power weapons). Shooting someone in the toe would not kill them instantly - it would however cause bleeding, limping and possibly shock, which could lead to death, but not cause it instantly.

ALT+F4'ing:

After disconnection, the player character should persist in the game world for X amount of time before despawning. During this time they remain attackable.

Legitimate disconnecting might have a timer, during which a player can still take actions while waiting for that timer to end and they are removed from the game (although this method may potentially be abused in some way also).

Near-instant disconnecting in "safe zones" guarded by invicible NPCs (like a turret or some such) which will kill any player who raises their gun.

Server hopping:

Selectable spawn areas for non-new characters, but boundaries around loot areas and the other players so that a someone entering the map/server is prevented from spawning directly next to another player or loot spawn.

Spawning within X distance from another player alerts the other player and zombies to your presence.

The problem of sniper whoring could be achieved by removing the high-tech sniper rifles, such as those with thermal and NV scoping and the AS50 which is ridiculously OP.

No sniper rifles currently in-game use thermal and the only one that you can use in conjunction with NV goggles is the DMR.

I agree that no weapon, NO weapon, should kill instantly unless it's a headshot. Some of them could inflict HEAVY damage, but I'd rather go down to even only 1000 health and then die then simply fall over dead abruptly.

I would like to keep the more "rustic" models of snipers, and increase the difficulty of use. (Sniper rifles are a part of a game, more likely than not to stay, but that won`t be my decision. We`ll both have to watch this.)

(Makes sense to make limb shots not instant kill, but keep chesties and headies one hit for those high powered things in my opinion.)

(I`m pretty sure Rocket is working/has worked on fixes for PvP disconnecting,)

(One of the points of this game is that nowhere is safe, I`ll try and go find the exact quote but I remember Rocket saying something of this sort.)

(No. Just no. This breaks a lot of gameplay, you should not be able to teleport like that.)

Actually, the .50's ARE overpowered. I currently am in possession of an M107. It does 37000 + damage. That's enough to kill you three times over if you're at full health.

Not to mention that if I'm prone, I can take down three targets with EASE within about two-three seconds. It's just stupidly OP.

And then factor in that I can set the sights to whatever range I please... I could kill you from 1000 metres away. Easily, in fact. With a DMR, I'd have to aim for the head. I think the ability to change the range settings is what makes sniping so easy. With the DMR, you have to actually practise. Not just hit some keys and aim centre mass and get an assured kill.

And there is one weapon that I advocate being a one-shot-kill. That is a shotgun with pellets from under 20-30 metres.

Clearly you haven't seen wound channels caused by the 5.56 or 5.45...

Some of the guns are pretty over powered, and you're right about the insta kill thing, headshot and upper chest maybe but the rest should just do some damage and cause bleeding. As for the alt f4 problem, forcing a player to do the sit down animation on a 10 second timer before logging out would solve the problem. If someone is avoiding zombies they'd probably die before logging out, and in PVP if they found a safe place to log out (waiting the full 10 seconds) that should be allowed and totally fine, it's when people alt f4 at the sight of another player after taking a shot at them that's unfair.

Big rifles not being one shot kill is a bad idea, imagine being hit in the lower leg or even foot by the M107. You may not die instantly but u would probably be unconscious and would bleed out in moments.
