sneerz 2 Posted May 25, 2012 I believe that there is not much currently taken from death, which in a sense is good and bad. It is good because you get a real challenge in trying to survive and it keeps you on the edge at all times. I don't think we should keep weapons and items from death, but things like kd/r, hours played, distance traveled, and even in the future having the ability to keep your collected skin would make the replay value much higher. The game is amazingly fun now but could be easily made more fun with simple things like this.
ejohnston95@gmail.com 1 Posted May 25, 2012 I don't agree.Stats for some reason have a lot of meaning to people. For some the loss of stats alone will make them avoid difficult situations more so than any amount of high tech gear in the world.

sneerz 2 Posted May 25, 2012 OP ur serious or just Trolling?I am not sure what gave you the notion I am trolling. These are completely genuine points and extra emy reasonable. In case you misread my post for saying to keep weapons on death, that is not what I said.

In case you misread my post for saying to keep weapons on death' date=' that is not what I said.[/quote'] Actually I thought you might be trollng too. Rocket stated the mod is to be unforgiving and keeping stuff after death is forgiving. The nice thing about developing mods vs paid for games is that replayability doesnt mean crap. Once a player gets bored they can just stop playing, but the mod developer still gets to refine his/her original vision.
SRTie4k 1 Posted May 25, 2012 Apparently nobody actually read your post, because they all seem to think you are asking to keep items on death. He is talking about stats and skins only.
Bandit Hunter 29 Posted May 25, 2012 That would go against the cardinal idea of the mod. Its not about the stats in the first place.

I don't really see what is wrong with this proposal?
Haiiro 1 Posted May 25, 2012 Hmm, it doesn't quite fit into the perma-death idea this mod is based around. Once your character dies, it's gone. No stats, no items, no nothing... Once you respawn, that character is is someone completely different without any notion of or links to your previous character. I can see how having skins unlocked on or having stats linked to a global account would perhaps be a nice thing, but for me it doesn't really have a place within this mod. I don't really see what is wrong with this proposal? Ok I can see stats, but since skins are planed to be loot items then you lose them just like all other looted items. Unforgiving. If it were me I'd make you purchase a new copy of ARMA after every death... Mwa ha ha
Insulted Walrus 0 Posted May 25, 2012 Sorry OP, I also thought you were trolling. But if you REALLY aren't, then just understand that the #1 thing you could do to kill a mod such as DayZ, especially considering the state it is in now (CoD kiddies galore) is to introduce a K:D ratio. Maybe the skins is too far, but I don't personally see a problem with stats? Are you guys just reading the post title and making a comment right away, because I don't think the title even fits. latster@gmail.com 4 Posted May 25, 2012 I really disagree with the idea of having persistent lifetime stats, on the servers. As others have mentioned, it'll mean people get too precious and will back into one way of playing the game, like sniper campers in call of duty trying to protect their 6.0 K/D ratio. I think stats should always reset after each death.
