stylenny7 0 Posted August 4, 2012 hi guysI just wanted to know if anybody knows a way how to run dayz and do other stuff (like browsing the web) at the same time ?For example if I have to run like 50 miles, I would like to do that without focusing on the game too much.I managed to run the game in windowed mode. I also managed to "auto-run" by fixating my "w"-key on the keyboard with something, but as soon as I alt-tab, my character stops running. I would love to check my emails for example whilest watching my character run, just in case, he bumps into zombies or runs into a tree and breakes his leg ;-)I don't think that it's cheating, it just bores me to death when I have to run to my friend who is like hundreds of miles away. That's the downside of the missing respawn button btw.Any suggestions how I can solve the "focus on application" problem are highly appreciated.cheersWulf
teocyn 37 Posted August 4, 2012 Watch something using VLC with 'always on top' enabled or a 2nd monitor! I don't think there is an auto-run function in DayZ/ Arma 2, you can macro something on a keyboard/ mouse to HOLD down the W key... but of course, tabbing out will cancel that. trylan 25 Posted August 4, 2012 ya i've figured out my own method for respawns and long distances for that..but like you said when you alt tab it cancels out..i just jam a paper clip into my forward key below the delete button and my guy keeps running forwards till i take it out..then i go find something to do..ie workout, drink/eat...smoke or whatever... all while watching the screen now and again for signs of zeds :/ sometimes i'm a little late and comeback to find my char dead, but thats only when i have nothing on me. stylenny7 0 Posted August 4, 2012 Thank you for the replies.I do the "auto-run" also physically with a paper clip. But as you two mentioned, the problem is that I stop running when I change the focus on a different application (alt-tab).Maybe there is a tool which can "fake" the focus ? I tried google already but didn't find something usefull.
jamestrendall 38 Posted August 4, 2012 The only way to do this is use a second computer/laptop. Or use a program that allows you to use 2 different keyboards at the same time one for each screen. Some players in EVE use setups like this to run multiple corps at the same time.If you have 1 screen set to view the game with keyboard 1 the program allows you to use keyboard 2 on the 2nd screen to do everything else. it also dosnt shut down the game window while you are doing something else. (i believe you cant use your mouse tho)Dont ask me what the program is called i have no idea but i do know it is out there!
