Tent problem

Ok i was wondering if anyone is having problems placeing a tent. I have tried placing it in thw woods, in open field even the road and gives me the msg has to be placed on flat ground away from other objects. I mean i tried on a flat road and it still didnt work any help would be appreciated thanks guys

Ignore the message, go in first person mode, crouch, look at ground, move back and forth while trying to place the tent, eventually it will work, the ground doesn't need to be flat or anything either
