ArmA 2 engine for DayZ's future?

Recommended Posts

I've posted this as a post on some other threads and there is probably threads about this but i just gotta ask as a refreshment cuz it keeps iching me every god damn sec.

How high is ArmA II engine restriction for the upcoming (new) DayZ features?

I mean first thing that pop on my mind is more enterable houses.

Is it possible to make them more freely open so it add even more sandbox style into the zombie apocalypse?

How about the future influence of your action as a cold bloded killer, bandit or a survivor.

Good,neutral and evil character.

Can you add an NPC in the future into town or following you (Rocket mentione a dog wich is a good refreshment)

Can Arma 2 engine bugs and glitches be fixed?

Can a fully customizable bunker be avaliable in future as a shelter?

Factions to get as a team or clan, and protect certain area of the map?

(and manny more suggestions that we already know so il just cut it right there so you get the main idea)

Now i know that everything i had mentioned here had been suggested over million of times (small number),but i just put it all together and mostly ive been intrigue by the first option, becuse if that is possible all of our imaginations can come to true.

But what if is not?

...

What if there is a several options to be implemented into this game and that is it?

Woud you pass on the WarZ if it strikes u as a good (and ever better,DayZ 2.1) game and not a ,,shitty,, MMO WoW with zombies? (survival my ass)

If it becomes everything you imagined of DayZ to be?

PS: before you start to throw a bricks on me by saying ,,fuck you and fuck WarZ,,

For me only reason to compare WarZ to DayZ is cuz of my uknowledge of ArmA 2 engine.

I personally dont like MMO style of game and i woud gladly stay with my fav zombie sandbox puppet.

What DayZ offered so far is the mayor change not only in modding but in the gaming history as well.

But will it be able to live up the Hype by adding even better, newer and more refreshing ideas and features?

Start raging and shitting diharea all over me in 3...2...1....GO fellas.

ps : i know this is another ,,OMG ITS SAME FUCKING REPETATIVE THREAD AGAIN,,

But its eather this ... or talking about freaking ponies.

Yes and no. Theres a bunch of restrictions, things like "clan systems" or "party systems" or "spawn near friend systems" would be very difficult to implement.

Dogs, not so much. The new arma DLC features dogs, which is what Rocket is waiting for to add them.

More enterable buildings is possible, you can mod arma like you want. If anyone has the time, you can model completely new buildings, inside out and place them on the map. Though, the amount of work and time it would take to implement all of these things would be insane, and with ArmA 3 coming up, which already unlocks a lot of this stuff(all buildings enterable) it might be a better idea to wait for Day Z to be ported to arma 3.

The thing is, the ArmA engine makes DayZ what it is. Okay, it has a lot of bugs and the hacking needs to be fixed etc etc, but it gives the feel of the game.

Make a game in CryEngine, it feels like Crysis, even with new theming etc. (Obviously unlikely for DayZ, but it's to make a point).

I mean, I can't think of a game engine that wouldn't completely change how this game plays, and for the worse. Okay, people hate the bugs, hacking, PvP, Zombie AI and much more in DayZ, but they keep coming back because the core gameplay and feel of the game is great as it stands - I don't see how it's possible to re-create this in a different game engine.

This is also something that concerns me greatly. ARMA 2 engine is garbage, and you can see it in DayZ. The controls are horrible, the movement is horrible, the AI is horrible, the sound effects are horrible, the gun play is horrible, the graphics are horrible, and the etc is horrible. ARMA 2 is a boat that was half-sunk before it sailed, and we're all expected to jump on board? I know a lot of people who really enjoy this game, but they wont put up with the horrid game play and constant bugs for much longer.

FYI Dogs have been around for ages in arma.

If they don't want the standalone DayZ to suck and fail, then it would be wiser to write your own engine or license a better one and heavily modify it. I don't know what existing engine would satisfy the needs of DayZ, gta IV perhaps. I don't know how good the fabled upcoming Unreal engine 4 is.

The graphics are horrible? If you play the core game on top settings you will think otherwise, same with the sound effects.

People like DayZ not because of its "stellar gameplay" but the idea of it. The concept of DayZ has a lot of potential if done correctly. Its execution in Arma2 is doomed to fail due to people being assholes and because the devs can't tailor the engine to their needs.

I do. The textures are all shit; on the landscape, objects, and across other player characters. The difference between Low and Very High settings is how blurry the horrible textures appear. Post-processing effects? THAT GRASS LOOKS AMAZING. And the animations are the worst.
