Killed at my own camp site

Recommended Posts

Ya so as the title states I got killed at my own site. I usually do not bother with tents and storing vehicles anymore, but I was tempted and did so. Was good for a few days. When I logged in I was in between two of the tractors I ended up finding and hording...like a greedy horder I guess. Hoped into one of them to move so I can get out and was instantly gunned down from my blind side.

It's all whatever. I ended up meeting up with my buddy and got into a nice firefight in Elecktro and had some fun...more fun then running around looking for more loot to horde.

I am 100% done with hording and instead will enjoy the game the way I think it's fun for me. Co-op with friends.

So. That's nice for you.

But who actualy cares about your desire to make a firefight and not hording stuff? .. o:

Read between the lines. He's saying that there's not much fun to be had in the peoples tendency to hoard stuff and being greedy. The less you have, and the less in value, the more fun you're having. It's a statement to not get attached to your gear and to stop being greedy because there's nothing to be gained at the end of that route.

Yeah, loot hording gets pretty boring. The only thing I hold onto is my motorcycle. I'll fight to the death for that thing lol. Saves so much walking time. I've had it through at least 10 different lives by now. Gotta love how easy they are to hide in a tree.

I set tents up all over the place whenever I find them. They're cool to stumble across. I have them all marked down in an out of game map, and just throw whatever extra crap I have on me in them. But, yeah, I've had bad luck setting up larger camps. They just get found to quickly these days.

Thank you. That's pretty much my story in a nutshell. Basically for the newcomers or those who are still new that cannot resist the loot hording....or older players that take longer to realize this lesson :) *points at himself*

The OP conveyed this point quite poorly, which is why many don't understand why he bothered to post this thread, but your interpretation of it is helpful and true.

How do you hide multiple tents in the same area? It's too easy to spot a tent city and then people complain about them being found. Hiding a single tent is much more plausible and still not 90% safe. Spreading your tents is a much better idea as you've found out. Just be careful of placing a tent too far into a tree where you can't access them. I'd say it happens about 50% of the time for me, but the ones that work are worth it.

A friend of mine logged on at our camp on one server today, and was gunned down by fire from some dude who was standing right infront of him with an Mk 48 and bushwookie suit.

Two minutes later, near balota (about a twenty minute walk from our tents) I was gunned down by some dude with an Mk 48 and bushwookie suit.

Three minutes after that, with a shiny fresh spawn, I ran into the supermarket in elektro, and was gunned down by a dude with an Mk 48 and a bushwookie suit.

A pattern emerged.

Probably a hacker. And he didn't liked you. I guess. :o

I always have the most fun with guerilla style tents

Individual tents randomly spread across the countryside, all marked and filled with stuff I found along the way

No vehicles beside bicyces and motorbikes

The most mobile and versatile way of playing DayZ

Whenever you find something you don't need right now you just drop it off in the tent closest to your location

And if it gets stolen...meh....you didn't need it that much anyway if you put it in the tent

Definately beats the all-out vehicle and item hoarding with tent cities that may get compromised and flattened in a matter of weeks

I found a campsite near the north dam. I sneak in there when the guys all go on trips. Often times I have to kill the ONE guard they leave, but other than that it's pretty simple. If I can, I don't kill people and focus on the vehicles where they keep all the juicy stuff. That camp is so big that I can sneak in and grab stuff at night.

Oh and I camp on the other hill, watching them run around during primetime. I think their sniper guard might be edging my way, so I'll have to take care of that somehow, but I'm not too worried.

Yeah, we tried the whole "big" camp thing. It was fun, but then just became too nerve racking. We have them scattered all over multiple servers(singles, a few doubles), and depending on what server we may be visiting, bring up that particular map. Most of them get emptied out which is fine. But, many of them actually have stuff that others have stuffed in there, who must be using them, as well. Never know what will be in them. Cool stuff.

Hoarding is no fun :(

Found a URAL, drove it into the woods north of Devil's Castle to store it, log in 30 minutes later, it's gone.

I just have 3-4 tents and i do fine, have yet to be found.

The server i use to play on got reset and all tents were gone, everyone in my group were crying over the fact we lost some much.

I told them suck it up butter cup, now we have the thrill of finding the gear all over again.
