Ovrclck 21 Posted August 3, 2012 I just run in Rambo style and clear the area of people and Z's. 75% of the time it works. I AM great though. The way i play reminds me of the scene in the movie commando, were arnold gears up, then takes on a whole army by myself. Its working well so far!!Hah, I love that scene,+Beans! Patient Zer0 39 Posted August 3, 2012 I only scout if I have a weird feeling. If I were thirsty I wouldn't run for the nearest grocery store - I head for a pond in the middle of nowhere and fill up my water bottle. Same thing when I'm hungry - I find a pig in the forest and knock it on the head with my hatchet. All of the guns are more or less the same to me. AKS-74 Kobra or M4A1 CCO, it really doesn't matter. They both go bang. I see no reason to risk the airfields when I already have one. And if I don't have one, I just run in because I have nothing to lose. Either someone's going to kill me or they're not. No amount of scouting will change that.
lnfighter 20 Posted August 3, 2012 I used to play as stealthy as possible. After a while though, the game gets kinda boring when you have lots of high end gear thanks to duping and 10 vehicles. Now I just run around like crazy firing my gun as often as possible. Now I WANT to be noticed. Snipers you say? 50-75% of them can't hit a thing. I encourage them to fire as it just gives their position away. My AKM or m16 acog or M14 will be aiming right back the second you fire. Been playing this game about a month and only been sniped twice, both due to me staying in the NWA way too long. lnfighter 20 Posted August 3, 2012 And as others have said, you can stare at your surroundings all day long but the most important info are:How many players on the serverHow many zeds alive/deadThere's 15 players and only 12 zeds alive? Watch your back!10 players and 150 zeds alive? run around naked cause no one gonna see you
ZlobaRUS54 441 Posted August 3, 2012 5-10 minutes before entering town anywhere, more I feel "the wind of death".
Bloodriki 12 Posted August 3, 2012 Imagine this situation: You are up north. You have pretty good stuff but your thirst light just started flashing and you have nothing to drink. You are in the woods and you spy a high yield area in a clearing ahead. How long do you watch to make sure no one is there? 15sec? 2mins?When I first started playing, I would have just run at it. After playing a few weeks, I would sit in the bushes and use my binoculars for like 20-30seconds. After a month, I just stopped going to high yield or vehicle spawn locations in the North. What would you do?I'd go Bear Grylls on that shit and drink my own piss, and camp the high yield spawn until some other fool saunters along looking for food and water. Soon as they still their movements, they'll get a complimentary round from my SVD camo to the dome.
Bottlerocket 205 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) I have this thing going in my mind when I play DayZ - it's called 'don't push your luck'.I'll always check from afar for zombies, because zombies = someone's nearby. If no zombies I'll stealth in, checking, proning, moving up.But once inside a high-yield area it's a case of loot, and get out. There's always an internal clock ticking in my head until it's 'don't push your luck' time. What I mean by that is, I'll loot until I get good gear, but if there's one thing I'm missing I won't push my luck looking for it if everything else is good. Taggert1313 37 Posted August 4, 2012 If while scouting the town, you spot a sniper but can't get a clear shot from where you are hidden. Would you sneak around behind him or abandon the town and flee into the woods?
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted August 4, 2012 I make sure i have what I need, when i scout in your scenario i spend at least 2 mins from 2 points.

Miragenz 71 Posted August 4, 2012 If im at NWAF, which i usually enter from north east, i check for zombies near the hangers or barracks, the when i get close enough i look at the firestation and ATC tower, if i still dont see any zombies i will just run over the runway straight into the barracks or firestation. Falcrist 119 Posted August 4, 2012 Look at the zombies. If they've clearly just spawned, then proceed with no scout ahead. If it's not obvious that they've just spawned, start scouting. Scout until satisfied that nobody is there. If it's obvious that they were already there, start moving around the city/town, looking at it from different angles. The amount of time I'll spend scouting is situational. If it's the NWAF, I'll stare at tree lines and windows for 10+ minutes.
Pareidolia 0 Posted August 4, 2012 I tend to look at the area and scan across the land for about a minute.
C0okieH 156 Posted August 4, 2012 I scout for 10 seconds, before I fire a bullet into the air, I then scout for another 15-25 seconds.

Buffjesus 357 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) L85zombies?nope; go inyup; search for the guy, take out AS50 and crush his skullof course since we drive anywhere, if we see zombies at any point were already on the closest hill looking for the +1 murder Edited August 4, 2012 by Buffjesus
Falcrist 119 Posted August 4, 2012 of course since we drive anywhere, if we see zombies at any point were already on the closest hill looking for the +1 murderSame here. It's a chickenshit way to play, but it's actually hard to avoid knowing instantly if there are players about.
