"Die as a Survivor or Live as a Bandit"

Recommended Posts

i heard this the other day and looked back on it a while ago and started to think, its totally true. eventually you have to become a bandit or you'll be on the receiving end of one. i still like to help people when i can, but ive noticed as i play longer and longer, i tend to become more untrustworthy of others and usually shoot on site if theyre armed with anything that can hit me. IE: AK's or Lee Enfields.

do you believe this quote to be true?

Evasion is the name of the game my friend.

'course I do kill bandits when I have the chance, I just haven' gone hunting this life.

Once you get all the gear you need there is nothing else to do in this game other than deathmachting.

see now that ive got myself established with high end gear, me and my buddy are using a sniper spotter system with him using rangefinders while i use the M107. typically though, we only kill people who kill other people. thats hypocrisy if i ever have seen it -.-

There are few pure survivors and bandits; most of us fall into the misty grey realm between. It's fun living in absolutes, though.

You have to differ between 'bandit' and 'shooting to defend'.

F.e. in my group we, no doubt, kill 'innocent survivors' from time to time. But opposed to real bandits we tend to HELP unarmed players (auto-trust because they can't harm us) and don't randomly gun down people who didn't even notice us. Still occasionally there's just an unlucky guy getting reaction-shot'd because he decided to check out the backpack he had just seen in the grass. But usually 75% of our kills are people who either are bandits or opened fire first (who appear to occasionally don't have any brain at all.. I mean, why would you attack a 4man squad full of assault rifles as a loner with a winchester. He sent 4 bullets, we sent 4 mags. And a nade. He managed to escape though.)

Early on in the game I was on the end of some random killing even when unarmed, I guess it's one of the reasons i'm against killing other players just for the fun, having said that now I have some good gear I would not want to risk it so if I was spotted then yes I will shoot.

How do you stay "pure survivor" in this mod? Even if paranoia & the fear of losing everything you worked for doesn't get the better of you, experience with trigger happy individuals definitely will.
