Negativity & the Experiment

I think the experiment is just to piss off a lot of unstable teenagers. Because it's working. The nature of the game has become the nature of the forum.

I have never seen so many people shot down because of their opinions or so many insulting and negative comments as I have here. I think if this mod is ever going to become great we need to distance ourselves from these types of people and also get some moderation in this forum that is effective in stopping this. I see hardly any moderation so far, where is it?

Until someone can figure it out, I am now blocking everyone for the following.

1) anyone who says 'get back to X game' ie wow/cod

2) anyone who trolls.

3) anyone who attacks the arguer not the argument.

4) anyone who thinks their opinion is the end of a discussion.

5) anyone who corrects other peoples grammar or spelling while simultaneously having a linguistic and mental capacity of a teething infant

If you talk to me or ask something and I don't reply, that will probably be why. But then who cares right?

My advice to everyone else is to block these kinds of a-holes out, the same way we eliminate hackers. Eventually only a load of decent people who want to see the game flourish and talk in a civilised and constructive way, will remain.

TLDR? Stop being a dick, the world doesn't revolve around you.

mods do not have to mean censorship, they can take a light approach. The problem is really negativity towards the person, which needs moderation.

Its all about language, and who you direct it to.

I can say, Ford make shit cars. Which isn't that bad. Or I can say. People that drive Ford's are fucking a-holes. Obviously that is a lot worse. There are extremes of hate which definitely need some policing the more extreme you go.

The same with any media, it is not tolerated to attack the person in any argument. (Its called an ad hominem)

Well when i can keep a conversation/debate civil and actually not use constant slang or cursing on a forum, i count myself as intellectual.At least forum savy to say the least and more well-mannered than most of the lot.

I have no need to be modest when a poster insists on using the word "faggot". Always makes me feel quite a bit smarter than the poster.

Certainly would weed out a lot of people.I may seem rude and hypocritical in my posts but my ego wouldn't be stroked in the slightest if people bothered to post more intelligently on here.

You know you are right actually. It's listed as an 18+ for bad language and violence.

I also believe in self moderation (hey anything can be abused you have to try it first). So far this topic is pretty civilised.

Using curse words may not be good behaviour, but separating people into the groups "intelectual" and "dumbass" isn't either. And putting yourself in the first group isn't well-mannared, it's called hubris. It's not like I wouldn't welcome less cursing and whining, it's just that I don't agree with your presentation.

'Moderation' does not equal censorship.

'Free speech' does not mean you can spout homophobic insults, racial slurs or any other offensive language with impunity, hiding behind the anonymity the internet affords you.

Whilst I agree with the spirit of the OP I fear that the trend of venemous replies is a common one to all 'general discussion' forums, not just DayZ.

Everybody sees what they want to see.

I see plenty of supportive and encouraging posts.

If a person has something to share or has a well stated opinion, he will not be bashed by this community. Even if there are a couple of troll replies, c'mon thicken up your skin a bit.

Most of the bashing is happening in the sludge posts such as "Why DayZ sucks", "Remove this", "Nerf this", "This is too hard", "I'm done with this" .

And honestly, what can you possibly contribute to a thread like that, other than to have some fun at the expense of the original poster?

We are infact one of the more relaxed forums out there.

We don't have many rules.

We as mods try to keep the forum clean of Ads , spam, excessive trolling etc ... all the normal shit that most the general public don't want to see.

For everything else there is the ignore prefs section in your profile.

I personally don't tolarate Homophobic slurs or excessive Abuse on other members.

I know Clatterbridge was being sarcastic and in the context of this particular topic.
