if you want to play dayz, but are unsure about the $30 entry fee, how does $20 sound? dayz does, in fact, works if you get only arma 2 free and arma 2: operation arrowhead. this makes the game price $20. however, i recommend this for if you ONLY want to play dayz. i did this, because i just wanted to play just dayz. however, i tried arma 2, and it is a very good game. i want to buy the full, but i don't know about spending 20 more dollars on something i can pirate.

(fact: you can't pirate arma 2 oa for dayz. it doesn't work. yes, i've tried)

so how can one get this wonderful discount? see the link below for a tutorial that helped me get it going. i didn't make the linked post.

Well you informed me to late, I always thought you had to buy combined operations, I had Arma 2 free, I don't touch Arma 2 at all, I only play Operation Arrowhead. I wish I saw this sooner.

You can also pirate ArmA 2 after completing above steps. Transfer the texture files from the pirated ArmA 2 to the ArmA 2 folder.

You will now be able to play ArmA 2 free using the full version textures.

Not sure if it is possible to do it with PMC/BMC yet.

With Arma Lite you get very low res textures and sounds.. I'ts worth the extra I reckon.

honestly, i would advise not to pirate the game. the price equals having a drink with friends and yields more than just a single evening of fun. bohemia doesnt screw the gamers, so dont screw them by using their work withouth due compensation. pay for the game and show that you support developers who deliver good titles, or we'll only have dumbed-down facebook-enabled mainstream crap in the future.
