Single Player

Recommended Posts

hey would i ever be possible to run a single player version of dayz.

maby just using zombies and other goodies in the arma 2 basic and 3d editor.I belive that anything like this would extend the dayz fan base even further. As for saving just use a save system like many other RPGs today just a simple save to harddrive.I have seen a post about zombies appering in the arma 2 single player story but i have not encounterd one yet (i hope i do) so all ready this shows some potential and even during one of the base game benchmarks i saw some zombies running around hitting stuff but atm just keep up the good work rocket

I love the multiplayer as much as the next guy, but I would also love a singleplayer port of day z; I'm just honestly not a fan of pvp in general, and I love the idea of perma-death but still being able to revert to a save if desired. Probably won't happen unless a major developer takes this idea and screws it up royally, but a man can dream. In the meantime, day z is as close to my perfect zombie game as I can hope for, keep up the great work guys!

I think once you start having Saves in this game it changes the dynamics completely. Death should strike fear into the player - that disappears once you can go back 5 minutes to a previous save and start again. If you could Save pretty soon you will have all the best weapons, vehicles and gear. After that what would be the point?

To be honest i dont even like the idea of being able to get your equipment back once you die in the current DayZ format - running back and looting you old characters body or having your mates grab your stuff. Turns Perma death into semi-perma death.

I can see single player being an option in the future, however. Lets just hope it doesnt get dumbed down too much for the masses.

I don't see a single player version happening.

What I can see a Single player tutorial in the Stand Alone DayZ game when it's actually made.

You never know they may make a small campaign -single player in a DayZ stand alone game.

If there was one I see it as a Campaign taking place right when the Outbreak started, since in a single player design you could have NPCs. Basically geared to get you ready to play the main game which will be the multi-player.

But they might just not have a single player- depending on where they go with the game.

I mean having the perma-death element remain the same if you do die, but for people not wanting that element, they can always revert to their last save if they want to

You and I have a different idea of perma-death. All games potentially allow you to start the game over if you die.

While this may seem argumentitive, its an important distinction. There is no stress if you have the option of reverting to a save. Yeah, you might let it slide when you havent done much, but once you have hours and hours put into a character, 99% of people would revert saying they made a stupid mistake, or the game was at fault, or its just this one time.

That's a good point, but it'd be hard to justify a single player game with no save system. Hell I'd still love it, but it'd piss a lot of people off I'm sure
