Tents - Do's and don'ts?

Not been having good experiences with tents personally. Stuff keeps getting wiped or I'll go out for a successful raid, store it all, come back and all the stuff is gone but there are things in the tent from days ago.

YES. I know this is a common problem, there are bugs, the mod is in alpha.

I know not to store tents in my inventory.

I'm looking for players that don't lose their items out of tents. What do you do? How do you place them, when do you save them, do you save them at all, etc etc. Looking for some good tent guidelines. Also, perhaps we can share information around and try to keep our items.

It's all hit and miss.

I've found it depends alot on the server,

I found one once that whenever the server reset, the contents in the tents would reset as well.

Meaning . . if I took a can of beans out of it, after the reset, the beans would be in the tent again, but i'd still have mine.

I'd suggest saving the tent everytime you make a transaction in it,

and don't stick them right next to/on top of trees or bushes. You might lose it.

Ok, having tent probs too. Are you playing with others because I think its due to mixed people using the same tent then each pressing save on it. I think if you are the owner and the only one to press Save option, then there is less chance to have the bug.

So basically I suggest placing 1 tent, using that one tent and nobody else can use it. If you want to trade or swap items take them out and put on the floor etc.

This is a bug and depends on servers you are.

there is a 50/50 chance on servers that tents sync and save correctly.

got the same problem on our server... there is no way to deal with it, ecxept of waiting for the next update.

PS: shouldnt the 1.7.2.5 update come yesterday? where is it?

Tents are crazy right now. The other day me and some mates tried for ages to put some tents down in good positions near our base. Each time, it only put the tent in a bad position so we packed it straight up afterwards.

Next day we went on the server and there were about 10 extra tents in our area. At first we thought someone had discovered our base and put loads more tents around for some reason. But they were all empty.

It turns out they were the tents that we packed up the previous day. It allowed us to pack them up between us so now we are set for tents for a long time... LOL.

Tents are easy... Dont be confused its pretty simple.

When you save stuff in a tent all it does is remember the items that are in it the next time the server restarts.

So for instance. You put in 30 SD mags. The next time the server restarts it will have 30 SD mags in it.

NOW.. If someone should find your tent and they take out 30 SD mags, then when the server restarts it will have 30 SD mags in it..

HOWEVER! If someone should find your tent and they take out the 30 SD mags and then proceed to save that tent.. Your SD mags wil be gone forever.

SO!! If you stumble accross and enemy tent and you chose to do harm. Remove stuff from the tent till its empty. Even if you have to leave stuff on the ground. Then save it when its empty.

And likewise if you want to be a good person. Take stuff from the tent and then just leave it alone. :)

Now Saving tents on the other hand. It seems to be tricky.

Sticking a tent in a tree or very close to a rock seems to have adverse effects when putting items in and saving. sometimes items in the tent save and sometimes they dont.

I find there is a technique that I use that has been flawless everytime.

First. Add items to the tent.

Second. Wait 30seconds to a minute.

Third. Save tent again.

Fourth. Wait 30 seconds to a minute before you change the stuff in the tent.

I believe there is a lag when the tent is saved. So you could save the tent. Take your stuff out, then the save command actually goes through.

Take your time saving your tents. Take your time placing the tents.

Well its not that simple if you are using a tent with a friend and both save the tent with items in it and the stuff vanishes. Your explanation doesn't really help that situation.

Save the tent everytime you are finished putting items in or taking them out, save it twice before you set out / log off, don't put stuff in it when you've got desync, wait a few minutes after saving before you log off. This is what i do and i've never lost anything to server resets or desync, only from being robbed and a bizzare glitch in which the tent no longer gave the option to access the gear inside which i doubt is preventable.

Tents suck atm had one placed well between trees,

think due to lag not sure but managed to place 6 of em lol so US119 old fields you may find em :)

I moved on found another tent in Barz hid that and it ate my gun i guess bug

why in the world would you save tents after taking things out? When the server restarts you want the things to spawn back in dont you?

As far as his friend? CLAIM YOUR TENTS! I know it cant work like that all the time.. But save when you have what you want in your tent. Use the 2 step save process I mentioned earlier. Then DONT SAVE when you take things out.
