smiley_ie 26 Posted May 24, 2012 Hi guys new to the mod I know it's in Alpha stage but is there gonna be FPS improvement ? In Arma 2 - OA -Arma2 PR i get 60fps most of the time. In DayZ im getting 45 and in towns 30fps. Is this gonna change or is it due to tha amount of AI going on ?Cheers
desrat 4 Posted June 15, 2012 most likely due to the way DayZ works, as it's at odds with the conventional wisdom when it comes to ArmA (although I agree with the idea personally). In A2 most missions/mods run the majority of code on the server alleviating the burden on the players pc but putting strain on the server (quite a lot in some cases, early versions of insurgency spring to mind), however DayZ is the opposite, Rocket decided to do as much clientside as he could presumably to ease the burden on the server spreading the cpu load across the clients, and in turn allowing higher player and zombie counts. I guess you have to think of it as distributed computing :)
Condemption 0 Posted June 15, 2012 So getting unplayable FPS in the major cities (Cherno for example) on a rig that should have no problems is "distributed computing"?
bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted June 15, 2012 When you approach a city or town and zombies spawn, your computer is doing the work for those zombies. So if you have problems with FPS when you approach a city, one solution would be to follow someone else into the city, if they spawn the zombies, you won't have to do the calculations and should have a better frame rate. So getting unplayable FPS in the major cities (Cherno for example) on a rig that should do have no problems is "distributed computing"?It seems most of us have no problems getting playable FPS even in major cities. So your claim that your rig "should do" is just your opinion. Either lower your settings, get a better computer, stop playing dayz, stay away from major cities, or do what I said above and let another players computer do the work when approaching zombies. Blaise 1 Posted June 20, 2012 Me and a friend also have FPS issues in cities. There is something seriously wrong in the DayZ code if CPU is limiting FPS.1.7.1.5 should address some of these issues, looking at the release notes.
Alkana 0 Posted June 20, 2012 1.7.1 broke fps, apparently update that is coming out slowly will fix fps. The game has basically been unplayable for a week because of the amount of things 1.7.1 broke.
