  1. I'm also issues with HFBServers.com and wanted to just tell people about my experience. I initially ordered an ArmA3 server (for a very respectable price I have to admit) from their New York location. Setup was quick and reasonably hassle free, until I joined the server and noticed a higher than expected ping. I double checked the servers IP address online and low and behold found that they had set me up in their Chicago data centre!! Our members are largely based in the east of the US and central Europe so New York was selected as a reasonable middle ground for all. I actually expected this was a simple oversight or human error so I alerted them to the mistake and was told : No apology, no consultation on whether I even wanted that location, it was just assumed that would be good enough. When I did question further I was then offered an apology and that should stock become available (which I would have to check for myself) I could request the server to be moved. Not ideal but as the server was paid for and the ping wasn't astronomical I begrudgingly agreed to wait it out a little. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I notice they have stock availability for New York once more and so put in the request to move the server, as they had advised me to. Once again setup was relatively quick (no mods/missions were transferred) but once again though the location is wrong, only this time its been setup in Phoenix Arizona!! Needless to say I'm plenty pissed at this point and immediately log a support ticket - That was 4 days ago (Wednesday), I've had no update (despite several prompts from me over those 4 days), no contact and my attempts to contact them in other manners have thus far been unsuccessful, so basically I'm here to advise others that while HFB do have highly competitive prices, the staff are at best incompetent fools or at worst blatantly poor at customer service. I guess you get what you pay for as they say... EDIT - UPDATE Finally received word after 4 days and only after I mentioned I'd posted here and on the BI forum - turns out the server location is new york and the IP address reports as Phoenix (inaccurate geoinformation) so apologies for that, it does not however explain why it took 4 days to get that response.

can i host dayz on this servers?

first one will run 2 servers, second would be capable of 4 but you'll go over the bandwith allowance on both (each 50 slot DayZ server uses about 2tb on its own)
  3. upgraded my server (EU16) to latest beta as recommended on twitter - got the kicked by battleye script restriction 16 that's effecting this beta build. Rolled back to last beta - now I spawn in debug forest with no gear no backpack no nothing. Tried multiple servers with no fix. I had : NVG's Binocs GPS Matches Hatchet Map Compass AKS-74 Kobra + ammo various cans/drinks guid = 9123b22033af6a4578846442bf5808df

An open letter to the silent majority

+1 here although I'm far from silent ;)

    Will FPS change ?

most likely due to the way DayZ works, as it's at odds with the conventional wisdom when it comes to ArmA (although I agree with the idea personally). In A2 most missions/mods run the majority of code on the server alleviating the burden on the players pc but putting strain on the server (quite a lot in some cases, early versions of insurgency spring to mind), however DayZ is the opposite, Rocket decided to do as much clientside as he could presumably to ease the burden on the server spreading the cpu load across the clients, and in turn allowing higher player and zombie counts. I guess you have to think of it as distributed computing :)
  6. server hosting prices are higher in europe, simple as...most DayZ hosts in the EU are 45 euros at least..

EU16 - will it come back?

Hi fella's EU16/Chicago 31 admin here - EU server is provided and managed by me and me alone - I've never kicked a single player from the server, Battleye has kicked plenty for not responding client and there is a maxping of 180, other than that you should be good to go... I run this server on my personal home file server with dedicated 10Mbit line but on occasion have to take it down if I need to do some file transfer to/from home/office (work comes first or there would be no server). We (vowsclan) are looking to put a dedicated DayZ server into a data centre and in turn increase the number of servers we provide, but that won't be till the end of the month so apologies if at times it goes missing. The Chicago server is rented DayZ server from http://www.hfbservers.com and as such operates around the clock. Anyone having issues with EU16 or Chicago31 should direct their questions to me by PM or via the vowsclan.net forums Thanks

    Major Update Pending: 1.7.0

Any chance of some more details on the changes required for server hosts, maybe even post it in the private hosts section or the google group
  9. Can you state which DayZ server/s that this box will be running, I want to join and test it for myself (ping/desync etc) before considering a purchase.
  10. I had to restart EU16 about 4 times in as many hours last night, just having issues left right and center, I eventually just took the server offline while I could track the cause, which ended in me re-imaged the server.. I now have it offline until I get the new mission file and then it'll be back online. I also run the server at UTC-11 as a lot of my clan members are based in the US and don't fancy playing in the dark every time. When I do a manual restart I have a little app I wrote that uses Rcon to give warnings to players but when it restarts automatically via fireDaemon (every 6 hrs) there's no warning (as yet)
  11. How about something for us more tech savvy users?
