Vendayn 7 Posted August 1, 2012 Nope, not looking for raiding them. Nor do I care what server it is or where it is on the map. So now that is out of the way...Me and a friend want to create a fort of some sort. Using a lot of barbed wire/sandbags and maybe some tank traps. I was hoping if anyone else has done anything similar and taken screenshots of what it looked (or looks) like. We will be using our own design, but it would be nice to see how other people have made their base. Just to get ideas or see how others have done it.
jukaga 271 Posted August 1, 2012 It's fun but useless. Someone could just server hop through your walls and get your stuff.
mikhail 65 Posted August 1, 2012 and why would you go through all the trouble? Just to make it look cool?
Vendayn 7 Posted August 1, 2012 Because its a sandbox game. And sandbox games aren't all about the epic l00ts
Rakkasan 23 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) I had a tents on top of a hill. Then I barb wired the whole hill basically in a bullseye formation. Tents being in the middle. Left openings in the barbed wire to where you had to find the right tree to crawl under to get to the next right. Took me weeks to gather all the wire (Polana Factory). It was an amazing place. I cried when I looked at it. When you came across the first set of wire at the bottom of the hill it was discouraging, even to me, to wonder where to start to find a way in. One could not even see the top of the hill to see what the wire was actually protecting. The tents were safe for about 2 weeks. The way someone got around it....(as I was there to witness it)....He logged off, went on another server, relogged on to the server where my "base" was, and popped right ontop of my tents, then took 2 rounds to the dome. Was not complete waste of time because it gave me something to do, but of course the tents were looted dry because I didnt want to babysit it. Moral of the story, bases are pointless. There will ALWAYS be a way for someone to get in even if you block off every possible entrance. Server hop is the skeleton key. Vendayn 7 Posted August 1, 2012 We're not doing it to protect items. We die and lose items all the time (though we do keep backups). It is all part of a sandbox game. We just think it would be cool to have a fort of some kind or "military" style base. Whether people get around it or not by switching servers, they can do that. Besides, we don't even keep items in one place...they are spread out.Making a fort or whatever it ends up being, seems like a rather awesome "end game" thing to do (of many that we've so far thought of), even if people log off on another server or whatever it is they want to do. Buffjesus 357 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) only have 1 screenshot and it sucks :(we had triple layer barbed wire around a 50m radius with tank traps at certain points.food tents ----------- in the frontblood tents --------- in the frontbear trap / wire / tank trap tent ----------- at the backother medical supplies tent ------------ next to the blood tenttools ------- in the backalmost every gun (these were mostly in the ural) ------- but extras were somewhere off to the sideextra backpacks were kept in the uralbikes, ATVs, motorbikes were kept outside of the fencing for easy joy ridingbus was on the side of the base so it wasnt in anybodies waywhite trucks were closest to the exit of the fencingural was near the exit for any big team adventurescars were kept until used as bait to lure people to snipe.the server had 4 hour restarts for constant loot refreshing. so try and build on a server like this of coursetoo bad the server admin stopped updating the server and is no longer going to rent it. knar33 158 Posted August 4, 2012 This is my clan's "base" where we keep a few vehicles. We don't really care about losing the bus or van so I decided to turn them into a base of sorts (mainly just to look cool). The sandbags were found when we raided a tent city, they were most likely duped but who knows.I found this thread when I googled dayz bases, I'm sad I couldn't find any cool ones but at least I can share my creation ;)Funny note: The captcha to upload this photo was "braaains"
