AKS 74 Kobra

I found it on some dead guy in Elektro firehouse. The one next to the Electro plant.

I don't like automatic weapons, I'd rather have a Lee Enfield or Winchester, but this weapon seems very powerful. I checked it out on DayZ Wiki, but I still want to hear some first hand experiences. Should I keep it, or would I be better of with a rifle, or a shotgun? This is a survival game, so I'll leave my preferences aside, take what you get, right? I also have 5 mags for it.

Oh, and I just remembered! I read somewhere you can combine Revolver ammo into M1911 ammo. Can you? And if you can, how?

AK not AKM ammo is ultra common and the gun has a low sound profile (in terms of players hearing it) its great

It also has one of the best sight apertures in the game. I wish I could take the Kobra's sight and put it on the AKM. Maybe in the standalone.

and regular AK clips are very common so its a very good gun

And what about the revolver ammo combining into M1911 ammo? Possible or not? (I think I read it in youtube comments of some Lets play DayZ video, seemed legit since that series had some of the most polite conversations EVER on the internets. But if it is true, I don't know how to do it)

Open inventory (g) open the context menu on the ammo you wish to convert (rmb) select convert. Only ammo in the immediate inventory (not in your backpack) can be converted.

each revolver mag can be converted into one 1911 mag so you can keep both types if you want

4 X 2rd shotty = 1 8rd shotty

must be same type/color ie. pellet/slug

so 8rd mags take up much less space than 4 X 2rd

Kobra is wonderful , AIM FOR THE HEAD, it comes with that amazing green dot , The M4A1's red dot is SOOOOOOOO shit in comparison. Enfiled is one of the best guns due to 1-2 hit kill same with the winchester. so some of the more desired "high end" guns can be some what disappointing and can let you down. I've rand into big groups who were all decked out with mp5s,aks,m4's,sniper rifles, but my enfield took them all out while they are spraying and praying. I had a fire fight in an apartment building last night and the guy was a foot away, he unloaded 1911 clips at me and it took one enfield bullet to kill him. all he did was break my leg and put me down to about 9000+

Ak 74 Kobra, has one of the best sights in the game , its clear and the gun itself has relatively low recoil. YOu can unload 3 rounds before the aim shifts. AK rounds are fairly common, check firestations and deer stands. Its audible range is around 80m for zombies , so if u shoot something , you wont sound the dinner bell. AKM is wayy more powerful but comes at a price, with an audible range of 145m and no sights , its a little tricky , but i prefer AKM over AK 74.

About the mags conversion , i believe it has been explained to you already . Right click on the ammo u wanna convert when its in your INVENTORY. You should be able to switch between them. also this should help

winchester is relatively quiet and holds 15 rounds. solid performer.

just don't use the pellets if you can avoid it. range is much shorter than slugs

mate has a silenced bison... takes half a clip to kill a zombie it seems....

had a NV FAL for several days. it was sweet. until i spawned in without any ammo.... heli crashes and military barracks are only places to get them and the ammo

well i have a bizon sd with 4 mags and an m4a1 holo . well bizon is awesome for headhsots . its for experienced players , if a lame brain is running st you , then duck into a building and take it out. else hide and predict its path then shoot for the head . i do that and get wonderful results

The M4 SD is basically what would happen if the Bizon and the M4A1 CCO had children. It's a monster for raiding zombie swarmed areas.
