Hive connected passworded server?

Recommended Posts

Long story short. Im a noob in a noob clan that never played ARMA2 and we have come across to play this game. Would like to rent a server and have it passworded whilst we learn, eventually open it up to a community of clans by announcing the password and then eventually making it a public server. Im told it has to be "hive connected", Ive no idea what this means but I get the idea. Are rented servers that are password protected connected to the hive or do they have to be open to anyone to save progress etc?

You won't "learn" anything in a passworded server. You need to play in "general population" to learn. . .

Otherwise you will get to the point where you "think" you're good but end up getting hammered on a "real" server.

And no you are not allowed to password protect servers that are connected to the hive.

You can't password a DayZ server, its in the rules you agree too if you use Rocket's mod.

If you do you leave yourself liable to having your server blacklisted and you accounts banned.

You can have a "private hive" that only saves characters on your server but still cant be passworded.

BEWARE - The same restrictions apply to Non-Dev run servers!

- IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED

- NO OTHER KEYS OR MODS. NONE. PERIOD.

- NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATES

- NO LOCKING THE SERVER

- NO EDITING DAYZ/MISSION FILES

- IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO UPDATE YOUR SERVER TO THE LATEST VERSION OF DAYZ

-BATTLEYE MUST BE ENABLED

- Minimum slot count of 40 (30 for countries where bandwidth is expensive i.e. developing countries)

- Their are only two reasons why you, as a server owner, should ban a player on your server. Those two reasons are: Malicious talk, and racism. You may not ban a user for stealing your loot, killing you, spying on you, etc.

- You may only kick for disruptive behavior (such as continued VOIP over side channel). But you may not kick due to race or language or because the person does something you do not like.

- Kicking for extremely excessive ping or desync is permitted, but if abused is grounds for blacklisting

Failure to adhere to these rules will BAN YOUR SERVER'S IP from DayZ.

You can't password protect your server, since whatever you find in your password protected server will follow your character on other servers :|

Yeah it's like free pickings on all the loot you want in your own private world. While you're learning just join empty servers, keep an eye on how many players are online while playing. I find generally anything up to 10 people and you are going to have a hard time running in to players most of the time.

Thanks for the replies. Sucks to live in Australia right now, servers for AUS/NZ are always 45+/50. Its difficult just to get off the coast with 50cal barret whielding ghillie suits sit along there waiting for some noob with nothing but a hatchet. Nightime is pretty much impossible because then those ghillie suits have night vision goggles on. :/ Guess Ill have to get used to playing this solo until my clan can get better.

According to this guys post, I should be unbanned in Seattle 36 for ghosting and DC kill dodging. If the only reasons to ban listed are racism or malicious talk as I am very polite in server.
