Laugher 3 Posted August 1, 2012 I had gotten a ton of good gear, gps, map, FAL, pdw, antibiotics, and I was just on a server where I sighted two players near a crowd of vehicles and laid down and started shooting. One of the players in my scope disappeared like he logged out, so I focus on the other one, then suddenly the player that disappeared teleports behind me and kills me instantly. I'm not even going to play this game if shit like that goes on. What is being done?

SystemiK 366 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) They don't really talk publicly about any steps they have taken, or are planning. It's a waiting game at the moment.Edit: (referring to efforts to combat hackers) Edited August 1, 2012 by SystemiK
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) Since the last update, the game has started logging players behaviour. Once they establish a pattern that rules out legit play they will implement an algorythm that will start dishing out warnings and bans for DC'ing to avoid death and server hopping. That's the plan anyway, fingers crossed. In the mean time there are some good servers where the admins keep on top of that kind of thing and issue bans. It's far too rare though at the moment. FrankFisher 46 Posted August 1, 2012 They'll obviously need to improve the security and protection put into the servers, really want to find all hackers and tell them to GTFO. :D
thisisbleep 32 Posted August 1, 2012 Cheating stems from the core Arma II game, so it is down to BIS to deal with blocking scripts but I doubt they will be effective at it because they have already had years to fix this.As for other exploits such as running from combat, ghosting etc. there are things which Rocket will include to stop or punish this, but you need to be patient. Alpha mod = not complete and still needs features to be added.
daniel.owens@iqu.com 43 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) The problem is that ARMA II is way too easy to hack. It's a military simulator, therefore the people who were using it were trying to recreate certain scenarios. This means that the server version completely trusts what the client tells it, no questions asked. If you delete a building file, the server believe it isn't there. If you add more files filled with weapons etc, the server believe it is there. It's not so much DayZ's fault, rather just a flaw in the engine its running on. Not much Rocket can really do about it until we go standalone, or an Arma 3 conversion with a hopefully much more secure engine. Dirtnasty (DayZ) 2 Posted August 1, 2012 For fuck sake if they are going to ban or punish u for disconnecting when ur getting shot at put some god damn spawn protection in... otherwise i'm going to continue to alt-f4 my way to the best gear...

DrewDubious 19 Posted August 2, 2012 I play on a server with a private character database so no cross server teleporting/F4 BS. Also, logging out while in combat gives you an instant death. Simple as that.
