shypatrick 72 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) So a few days ago I found a downed helicopter, I had the game cut out for me. I found this downed helicopter on my third or fourth life. I decided to run to the NW Airefield, the next time I logged in both my weapons (M104, M249) were gone. I died with a ghillie suit and thought, well what next? I continued again, found some good loot. Got sniped. For some reason whenever I die, I kind of smile. I smile, because I get to find those things all over again. I get to scavenge and sneak around all over again, constantly running through Elektro checking for enemies. And when I get some good quality items (for example looted this A550 and ghiilie suit off a body) I use the knowledge I learned from my previous deaths to get better. I think thats the fun in the game, dying releases your from that "I must protect my swell, shiny items" attitude. Now you get to find them all over again! Who knows maybe you'll kill that guy camping Stary this life. Maybe not! Rebuilding from ground zero makes DayZ fun. It's not the gear you have, its the adventure to get them! Zexis 127 Posted August 1, 2012 I agree. Only thing that irks me is the amount of time needed to get up north after death. Running Simulator ftw!
Tenebris Draco 63 Posted August 1, 2012 Every death I have I usually laugh, cause sometimes it's pretty damn funny how I die. Almost died by going THROUGH a object, I was laughing my ass off while a zombie was chewing on me.

Udak 104 Posted August 1, 2012 It's hard to let go, but the first 2 hours of a new life rule. Then you get moderately good to top tier stuff and its back to being boring again.
HydrogenHats 17 Posted August 1, 2012 So much agreement. Once, on a server of about 30 players, I had shot one guy with a revolver and looted an AKS-47 Kobra outside of Cherno, however his friend was closeby and managed to nick me in the leg and break it. By the time I whipped around to return fire, he DC'ed. I morphined myself and for about an hour tried to regain blood, looking for animals, as I had only ~2000 left. By the time a zombie knocked me unconscious and started chewing on me, I felt a sort of relief that I no longer needed to protect the great gun I had.But whenever I die due to a glitch, e.g. climbing over wire? That shit gets me mad.

Sure I had an akm and alot of food, but singing the song "Jumper" with my friends and stepping of the ledge was hilarious!
JAYYY 1 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) Yeah I agree, it is a good feeling running around and finding all your loot again haha :)It's annoying when you die to a glitch or hacker though :/ Edited August 1, 2012 by JAYYY

U.B.C.S. Ravin 326 Posted August 1, 2012 Have my beans for such a positive outlook on Deaths. It gives me hope for the community to accept death regardless of the reason and just having fun with the game. As it should be.I would give you two cans on beans, sadly I can only throw one at you. :beans: :beans:

And tbh it's funny when people who hack don't know what they're doing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suVT19EPUOg
dustylion@gmail.com 14 Posted August 1, 2012 Aye, those first few hours are some of the best gameplay in DayZ.
shypatrick 72 Posted August 1, 2012 Was on skype when a friend died to an outhouse door. Laughs were had. I actually died kinda like that too! I glitched into a chicken coop and fell through the ground and died, those chickens must have been pissed. ^^
DemonGroover 8836 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) I agree. I actually get more enjoyment out of Respawning now than i do from a 10 day fully geared up character. Respawning releases you to try something different.I'd like to vote for a Global Respawn day where every server has a set time where everyone has to start anew. Imagine the fun of EVERYONE on the server starting at the same time and all rushing for the loot. Edited August 1, 2012 by DemonGroover

No more server hoppers or campers, all go back to ground zero!
Cooperal 16 Posted August 1, 2012 I wish this mod was actually harder in the zombie department. I've got survival instincts which cause me to never get in real trouble with zombies, and the trick to avoiding a lot of bandits is finding an unpopular server and take flight if ANY gunshots go down in high-risk zones (concealment if not aimed at me).Right now I'm suffering from heavy discouragement of launching just because I'm in a "little to gain (lack of incentive) but everything to lose" scenario. But I thought that would've appealed to me. I usually like harsh, unforgiving gameplay because it repeatedly proves way more effective at drawing out soul and emotion than any amount of flashy, expensive cinematics can. That and I always enjoy the sensation of a fresh start. I'm moving well out of the "new player" category now, but I'm still too attached to all the things I found with low spawn rates (coyote backpack to name one). And I really hate the idea of another morphine hunt. Only ever found some in Cherno hospital, only ever needed it when breaking my legs in doorways, sadly before I realised that morphine auto-injectors don't grow on trees. At least it's not a clueless hunt for my first EVER gun anymore. Took more scavenging than any weapon since. And the makarov felt like it had all the charm of the Kokiri Sword.
Askar 177 Posted August 1, 2012 (edited) I'd call it refreshing. Once you get to a certain point, you have nothing more to accomplish. No point to loot, no point to do anything. You've got it all, and as such you're afraid to lose it all. So you play very cautiously, and the game loses a lot of its charm. Becoming a medic has helped me with that greatly, but some day I'll die. I've got quite literally everything, I have nothing more to gain except a fully functional helicopter. When I die, I'll have to loot towns again. I'll have to worry about my own survival as well as that of my patients, I'll have to use different playstyles suited to the different weapons I'll find. I'll get excited when I find some rare item. I'll be freed from the shackles that my gear have become. Free to do all sorts of risky things that I don't do even now as a medic. I can run up to Bob Friendly in Cherno and attempt to strike up a temporary alliance. I can dance down the street in Elektro. I can do anything I want. While I certainly don't want to lose all of the amazing equipment that I have which allows me to help patients so efficiently and easily, I do look forward to that refreshing coastal surf in my ears once more. When virtual death comes to me, I'll welcome it with open arms. And then I'll send a horde of people to the server and place of my death, so that they can devour my killer and prosper from my demise. trickle 2 Posted April 29, 2014 my latest death:I was in my armored mmwv heading to my base. Got to my base, got out the car to go up to the garage door to unlock it, I get sniped by a group of 3 bandits. They took my mmwv (as it was unlocked because i didn't feel the need to lock it just to open a door. They took all my stuff and left me dead on the ground.
