jamesthebrit 16 Posted July 31, 2012 My idea is simple. Instead of restricting admins from banning everyone and making the dev team ban every single hacker in the game, give the admins power to ban people. If someone abuses this power, blacklist the server. Simple! Why would this be better you ask? Firstly, I believe there are many more hackers than admins. This means that if admins had the power, there would be so much less work for the dev team to do banning people. Secondly, who's more likely to break the rules? An admin who pays £50 a month for a server, or a player who pays nothing and when he gets banned can just join another server. This clearly seems a much better way to do things, no? If you disagree please tell me why in a civilized matter instead of the usual community attitude.Secondly, for these repeat offenders, I think the Devs should set up a database for admins. When they ban someone, they add their name/id to the database. When this ID appears 10 times, a dev could maybe look into it and issue a global ban? I am not sure if dev's can issue their own global ban or if BE is the only globals. If its not possible for dev's to issue global bans, then simple make these repeat and proven ID's public so servers can be wary of them.Thankyou for reading, feedback would be appreciated.
Grodenn 53 Posted July 31, 2012 While everyone and their mother hates hackers and want the gone from this world, I'm kinda sceptical to this idea. There would without a doubt be people getting banned simply because they killed the admin or the admin "thinks" someone is hacking. From what I have experienced from other games people tend to accuse others for cheating/exploiting when they lose/die even if the other player just happened to be way more skilled.I would rather say make a report function that everyone can use that logs time and server you where on while reporting the player. With enough reports from different people at different times you could get a ban? But the power is still in the hands of the devs. This would limit the amount of unfair bans I think. jamesthebrit 16 Posted July 31, 2012 I think the problem is the devs have too much on their plate at the moment. This is an alpha, there is a lot of work to do. And I agree, I know for a fact admins will abuse, but the fact is I believe there will be much less admin abuse as there are hackers as these admins actually pay money for their servers.
