Can create fire without wood 1.5.8.4

Recommended Posts

Date/Time: N/A

What happened: Able to create a fire without using wood.

Where you were: Anywhere where a fire can be placed

What you were doing: After you find matches, you can use the scroll wheel to select an invisible option of "Create fire place". This appears to be using the old system for creating a fire.

Scroll down to last visible option on the list. Scroll down one more time and hit enter or primary click on mouse.

*Current installed version: 1.5.8.4

Sounds like a bug but is more realistic than the current "correct" ways of doing it as finding wood and starting a fire literally takes me 2 minutes if I'm out in a forest myself so I doubt a survivor would have more problem.

This glitch was also in 1.5.8.2

I attempted it twice and each time I made a fire. Have yet to test it on 1.5.8.4 though.

Basically the old method is still there just that the text is not showing on the contextual menu.

Was just coming to report this when I find it here already.

Repro is exactly as OP says. I do notice that it doesn't let me place it nearly as easily as the new fireplace though. So perhaps even delete the old fireplace entirely?

Tried this yesterday on ANZ2, which was running 1.5.8.4 with beta build 93040. It worked exactly like described in the OP. I had wood in my pack but not in my active kit, and that wood was still present after the fire was set.
