moartuba 0 Posted July 31, 2012 Has anyone ran any tests to clearly define the argo boundary for certain movements towards zombies? I mean you can kind of guess it, but math would be best. Is there a way to see the dayz code and tell? Also, is it determined in three dimensions or two based on a general layer?I would just like more definition on the enemy we are escaping/sneaking from/around. Blah blah, I know it's alpha, but it should be in there since it's a very core part of the game.
krtshv 362 Posted July 31, 2012 Well, I haven't particularly tested it, but when you stand up and run, the aggro boundary seems to be everywhere.
Rokochan 26 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) any rifle, sniper, or shotgun shot in a building will aggro any zombies within 50~150 meter radius from your current location. almost as if you're set off a bomb saying were are here.If you use your sight and sound indicators you can determine the aggro range. 6 bars = zombies can see you from a mile away. 3 bars = less detection, 2~1 you get the idea. 0 Bars = no detection unless that run over you. But you could be less than 2 feet from a patting zombie, with 0 bars prone, and the zombie will just walk pass u.I mainly scout the town without drawing too much attention. I suppose this is your objective too. Night time scouting can be tricky, just have flares ready to launch, you'll be thankful you're carrying them as they can lure zombies from your current vicinity to the flare Edited July 31, 2012 by Rokochan
Tiercel 63 Posted July 31, 2012 Currently the aggro range appears to be about 225km squared unless its night and youre crawling.
omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted July 31, 2012 well, you can get close as HELL if it's night and you're prone. a zombie literally stepped on my hand as i was shitting myself, praying that they wouldn't see. they didn't.
moartuba 0 Posted July 31, 2012 Well I understand the agro and the about range of agro for actions (shots from different guns, etc.) but I think I'll run tests and see exactly what the range is per gun/action. But it will take forever I suppose. I need hard facts lol
zeroready 8 Posted July 31, 2012 I think the zed code is still too buggy to accurately test this. I can run right by them at full speed lately most times without aggroing. Though, this seems to happen when loot doesn't spawn anywhere in the town I'm in so I think they're related issues.
Kin0 21 Posted July 31, 2012 I think there is a randomizer on Zed hordes.Cause I can remember there was a time I was coasting past a barn with about 6 Zeds wandering and hopping, I came within arm's length of the nearest one and nothing. I was crouching and running, I couldn't agro a single Zed to draw them into the barn.So I start making my way to the forest when I see a zombie booking it full gallop from around 300m (It was behind a house IN the town) at full agro. So, maybe they're one super-agro zed in every group? Is the dayz code good enough to effect agro range by their own line of sight?
