Hacking is out of control

Recommended Posts

Hacking in this game has become as easy as downloading a program. I do not hack, and I have become very easily targeted by hacks.

I own a server (I won't mention the name, so I wont be targeted even MORE), and there are always hackers online causing a muck.

This is a great game, that in my opinion can go VERY far.

But, what is the DayZ dev team going to do about all these hackers?

I know a stand alone game is almost certain, but BattlEye can't stop the hacking, and the mod is all we got to play at the moment.

hackers get a ban on a regular basis, but all they do is go out and buy a new cd key and go right back at it.

This constant loop generates alot of income for BIS why would they change it.

What needs to happen, is IPs need to get banned - MAC addresses - SUBNETS. If you get a ban it should mean something. Wonder how many copies would have sold without all the hackers

Yep Spawned NPC's all over in my camp today and stole all my vehicles. then parked my helicopter in a group of trees.

We found his name and I banned him PM if you want the GUID/IP to ban.

1.) How can a MODDER be made responsible for exploits caused by the base game? You can only do so much against it, and fixing exploits in the game engine itself just isn't possible. Trust me.

2.) I also get the feeling from al the threads popping up that hacking's getting worse, BUT it also seems that everyone who got killed assumes that he's a hackers victim - and that's just plain stupid paranoia.

So keep your cool, this mod had a huge explosion in popularity and popularity draws in idiots (= hackers and all-time-noobs who want /godmode) - that's the internetz for you. They'll go away when they get bored, hacking just is no long time fun.

MAC's, subnets - Yes maybe, but IPs, wouldnt you just love to catch on to a dynamic IP used by your neighbour hacker and never be able to play unless you had your router shutoff for +24h.. Its just not that easy. Do like blizzard with accounts, people rarely hack in those games, most often they exploit :)

1. Their mod their responsability, just because its a mod it doesnt mean that you cannot do anything about it, for example plenty of pleople just exploit and dont really hack, how about fixing those for a start? Make those server more durable so scripts doesnt get executed as much.

And, Hackers dont just go away, they hack and hack for months on end and if they eventually get bored they publish the hack and get 100+ more idiots to join, and whenever its caught they just make some more. Atleast as it is now with next to nothing for protection.
