vukster@gmail.com 75 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) The main goal of DayZ is to help it get to Beta and push past the Alpha stage. This is your main and only goal in dayzIt's not survival, it's not about getting loot. It's about testing, reporting bugs and getting it to Beta so you can finally pay for all the free testing.Or will the Alpha testers be given a discount? Maybe a vanity item like a badge of honor "Alpha survior" perma item.Only Rocket knows. Edited July 30, 2012 by vukster
Hayez 18 Posted July 30, 2012 enjoy it while it's free kiddies!
Lennsik 176 Posted July 30, 2012 I'd imagine we'll be getting some super awesome discount or some shite like Minecraft did, as that's how Rocket wants to set up DayZ's profit model. But I agree, in all the fun of looting, running, crowbar'ing, and all around dickery we do in DayZ, we're testing for what will be the big guns in Beta. As Alpha is to add new things, Beta is to perfect it. So we need to test EVERYTHING.

Lennsik 176 Posted July 30, 2012 I don't think Rocket has the capability to detect who's an Alpha account and who is not unless he codes a special feature for that or something.

leodimas 31 Posted July 30, 2012 It´s about having fun, like any other game. Some find fun in killing others, some in helping others. For me it´s helping others that help me kill others
vukster@gmail.com 75 Posted July 30, 2012 I don't think Rocket has the capability to detect who's an Alpha account and who is not unless he codes a special feature for that or something.Well, I think it would not be too hard considering they keep track of user accounts through their database no? Lennsik 176 Posted July 30, 2012 Well, that's the thing. Rocket isn't an actual employee of Bohemian. I mean, he loves them and they love him, but he had 0 power over the official engine itself and therefore has no Admin powers to the game or ability to track us. As for the user accounts in the database, that's true, but he'll have to find a way to make them permanent or linked to avoid any frustration or problems. It -is- doable though, I'm sure of that, just a bitch to do.
ArchAngel-7- 45 Posted July 30, 2012 how about a lil something for the server hosts who paved(payed) the way for the popularity of this game, only to be denied any rights to his/her server? (even the right to kick someone out of it if its full so he/she could play)
Lennsik 176 Posted July 30, 2012 Again, it's a mod, therefore they have no control to the servers other than kicking. Again, it's not the best thing in the world, but it's a helluva lot better than handling our servers to men with unlimited power, destroying everything and abusing the rights. hatesauce 99 Posted July 30, 2012 That being said; I can't wait to pay for the standalone. Take my money and my tears.
Waylander The Origional 21 Posted July 30, 2012 My aim is not to push it to beta. My aim is to survive, and enjoy myself. By doing that, I *DO* push it through to beta.Your aim, however, is not to tell me what my aim is. Pompus prick.
tced 45 Posted July 30, 2012 the main goal thus far may be, from the development perspective, to get to beta, but the best thing it's done thus far is reveal just how sick & pathetic BIS/BatEye is at detecting hackers in their game. I hope that they take note before Arma3 comes out or it will be another hack fest all over again.
