trickkynickk 2 Posted July 30, 2012 People that dont want pve server just say "you can just farm everything" or "it makes the game pointless." Well why not have non hive pve servers? it would keep the pve and pvp loot from each other so no one would whine about server hopping on pve to get the good loot. also to the people who just dont want the game mode, just dont play it
komoter226@yahoo.co.uk 59 Posted July 30, 2012 Or make seperate hives - one for PvP and one for PvE. Simple.
necroslord 73 Posted July 30, 2012 You will get flamed anyway. People just don't want other people to have fun their way even if it doesn't affect them. Ths is not about giving reasonable arguments, this is about "No, just no."
Zetal 90 Posted July 30, 2012 Are you enjoying shoving words into peoples mouths? Perhaps you should take your own advice, instead of just going "yes, just yes." The fact of the matter is that pve would take dev time away from the gametype that, in the end, is what dayz was envisioned as. As well, introducing pve would drastically splinter the playerbase and result in two different groups. This would seriously hinder the data gathering that rocket does on the hive. Besides THAT, running another hive would likely cause more network strain, increasing the cost and maintenance of running the game, and besides even that, pve servers would be a target for hackers that want to abuse "carebears" as they say it. The unfortunate but realistic truth is that pve servers are a pipe dream.

No new hive is needed, I have read of servers having a private database. I'm pretty sure that is all they need. When zombie AI gets improved it benefits both "communities" and no harm was done. I don't know if I'm missing something.
Riordin 15 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) PVP is one of the biggest driving forces behind the game, and one of the biggest reasons why its so popular and successful.Rocket himself stated that PVE will never happen.I'm not going to bitch or flame you saying that it's a terrible idea, i just don't think that DayZ is meant for PVE at all."The War Z" will have a PVE only server, when it comes out you can go ahead and play that. And if you cant bear it until then go play some L4D or Dead island. The player interaction is what makes the game what it is. Having a co-op only esque server seems too "Baby's First zombie Apocalypse" to me.Any who. those are just my thoughts.
