Trust me, you don't want to lose your connection by accident and then realize you're entire progress is gone, because of a feature that YOU suggested.

How about you cant dc when bleeding, shot or "shot at"/hit in the last 5 minutes, or picked up an item in the last 5 minutes. That should be easy to implement for now.

Easy way to dupe. Log in, put stuff in a tent, log out, spawn with your stuff.

Also there would be problems with people that have a bad internet connection.

This would of course be an option for when Rocket manages (if he ever can) to get this Mod out of the fucked state its in and into a stable working game.

Its pretty obvious currently DayZ is almost unplayable, but hey lets just except that and stop having any ideas huh?

Not to mention at the moment its also a Alpha Mod. You are meant to be testing not holding back development because you want to keep your toys.

I can see the griefing now as a player has his sleeping bag robbed off of him and he spends hours running around like a chicken with it's head cut off looking for a sleeping bag so he can go to sleep in RL without losing all his progress lol.

timed logout is the only way to do it. If we think it's not fair to make people wait, then have their bodies stay behind standing for 30 seconds. There's no reason to knock them out

It may be possible to record the player id and that way aggro could be preserved when switching from server to server. This would protect people who are momentarily disconnected.
