movement noise

Recommended Posts

when you sneak over rock/concrete/asphalt you sound like you do so with wooden clogs, or rather like you are stomping forward in wooden clogs trying to break the ground, with sneakers or any type of practical footwear i/anyone could move pretty fast on solid ground making almost no sound at all, running/walking softly is easy and in the situation you are in the game its something that should come naturally to the survivors. for gameplay purposes you shouldnt be able to run quietly maybe but you should definetly be able to sneak properly

I imagine my character as somehow wearing gigantic, clunky, impractical Frankenstein boots.

I was wondering if they play-tested and this amount of noise at least gives other players some chance to hear you...

Because in reality, depending on background noise, you would hear someone from relatively far away, especially with crap all over the ground... But in a game, who knows.

Its quite stupid, the sneaking in this game is useless if you are trying to sneak up on a player. They will hear you crawling or crouch walking from a mile away. There needs to be a fix for the sneak system in DayZ. I agree with you OP.

well maybe there is an opertunity to make the game play more interesting. Maybe you start the game with bare feet. Then you have to find some footwear that fits or kill somebody for theres. Then you could have a choice between boots, sneakers that each have different characteristics. Maybe you can stay bare foot which will reduce the amount of noise you make, but then compromises you in other ways like what surfaces you can step on. Maybe you can take damage by stepping on eg: glass (die hard) or stingy nettles/rocks/ or genarrally any ruff surface.
