Making ammopouch to store bullets?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I've been thinking about some stupid idea, but I can't seem to get it out of my head. I know this has been mentioned in some different form before, but i wanted to just get it out there =)

What if, each bullet could have designated a certain amount of volume to it (i.e.: a 7.62mm x 51 is using ~3cm^3).

Next the player have by default a pouch for rifle-ammo, and a separate pouch for sidearm-ammo. These pouches have a certain volume attached to them. For each different bullet you put in, the volume shrinks, but you have one/several more bullets.

Now, if you choose to put several different types of ammo inside the pouch, and load your magazine, there will be a chance equal to the "wrong" bullets you put in the first place for the gun not firing (or you could just get the option of loading the magz with the right type of bullets to begin with). If this happens though, and you "chuck" the wrong bullet out, the chance is then i.e. reduced to zero again for that magazine.

Furthermore, when you have some "time off", you can then go inside your pouch and chuck the bullets you dont want/need, and then restore your chance to zero. OR you can

And at last, as the usual spec-ops soldier is carrying around 8 mags, this should be the appropriate amount of magazines you can carry. And you can then choose which mag-spot on your west you want with which mag, with i.e. a timedelay coupled to the reloadtime to get a player-picked priority system.

As I've said, this is probably a stupid idea, and I bet its not even implementable in the game, but why not throw it out there at least.. :P

Spec-ops don't carry beans, antibiotics, steaks and blood bags on themselves.

You can easily carry 8 mags, which is what I'm doing now. Just don't expect to carry much food or drinks on you other than in your backpack.

I think the whole inventory slot system should be smaller, right now there is no need to team up since you can carry medical supplies, food, weapons etc etc all by yourself. Plus there is no speed penalty, you don't get more tired with more gear and you are pretty much a self sustained unit.

What? Please explain how one could somehow accidentally put the wrong bullets into a magazine? It is kinda obvious if they fit or not. Also this just overcomplicates the ammo system.
