Jerry cans hold 20 litres. Helicopters hold 1000 litres.

No need to change anything.

The Heli should be a pain to keep fueled and force people to plan out their routes effectively.

[Edit] Missed a digit on the 1000 /bonkhead

Lol i think he said 100 jerry cans to make it full not just 100 litres (5 cans). That is ridiculous anyways.

... some helicopters can hold up to 1000 litres, so its normal fueling a heli with jerry cans will take a while.

And it is ok, important thing about flying a heli is thinking about the PONR (point of no return).

Which would still mean 50 jerry cans, not 100+

To be fair I don't think all the jerry cans would be full in a zombie apocalypse.

... obviously not al helis have same tank volume (smaller ones about 100, betting up).

It's hard to say for me what would be realistic as I don't know the model that is used ingame.

100+ jerry cans sounds a little too much nevertheless.

Yeah but usually you don't fill them in and throw them away, but keep them and fill them up over and over again. According to the DayZ Wiki a helicopter takes up to 600 litres, which would be 30 jerry cans. But that info might be outdated perhaps.

No. it is perfect this is the cost of having FULL and total map control. Take the risk when filling it up. You are basically immortal when flying it ne ways.

Immortal up until the point when somebody with a rifle starts shooting at you, yes.

In all honesty, helicopters aren't THAT great. They're hands down the best and fastest method of transporation, and are a fantastic way of spotting bandit camps and vehicle hoarders in forests. However, when it comes to actual offensive power, the UH-1H is a joke. The M240s can't be reloaded, and unless you have a very talented pilot, you're not going to be able to do any damage with those heavy machine guns unless you're hovering - and trust me when I say that hovering is the LAST thing you want to do in a helicopter when you're being shot at.

Before people begin to question my experience - I'm a reasonably good helicopter pilot and was part of a group who shot down a helicopter full of people with Lee-Enfields and an M14 AIM.

If it takes 100 20-liter cans to fill up a helicopter then clearly the tank capacity is 2000 liters, which seems to be quite a lot for a helicopter the size of the UH-1H.

In general the tank sizes on vehicles is kind of screwy in this game, as well as fuel efficiency....

For example, I know that a motorbike in real life can get up to 20 km per liter, but the motorcycle in DayZ has a tank capacity of 30 liters yet has a range of less then 20 km according to the wiki, and the experience I've had in game seems to confirm that most vehicles in DayZ are ridiculously fuel inefficient even with completely repaired engines and fuel tanks.

I honestly love how people think this game should be easy mode... O it should only take this much, well guess what work for you're achievement aka the heli and be proud of it, you have to work to keep it fueled then so be it. Don't cry over having a difficult time doing something, filling it up is easy with a good group of players.

This is not a solo game, even though people think it is... the only ones who do are bandits.

No one is saying it should be easy mode. They are saying that realistically, the UH-1H has a CAPACITY of 600-1000 liters. It should take between 30-50 jerry cans to fill the helicopter from 0. Some are experiencing an issue where it is taking over 100... does that not seem like an issue to you? This game is a based on realism and should be that way.

Takes us about 20 minutes, parked next to a fuel tank, with three guys running back and forth with multiple cans. It's a pain, but it's a privilege.
