straw 5 Posted July 30, 2012 So I've seen the first chopper coming from cherno XD and first think I thought was shoot this thing..so I've loaded the as50 with a mag of nato and fired 2 shots. I must have hit it but nothing happened besides the chopper changed direction.My question: Can a chopper be shot with the as50 + nato mag & how many shots does it take to take it down ? Where do you have to hit it? What gun is best for the job?Also: I've tried to take a screeny with the print button but it didnt take a sc of the game but instead of my desktop ^^ Do I have to start through steam to be able to take a sc? hazedaze 89 Posted July 30, 2012 taking down choppers with a sniper rifle is not easy. you need an accurate shot to the rear rotor or to the engine (right under the main rotor). best weapon against choppers would be LMG's I think. m249 would do the job with high rate of fire. datguy (DayZ) 157 Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) Shoot the pilot if you can (pilots seat is the right hand, front seat.). Failing that, the tail rotor, where it connects to the tail. Hitting the tiny hitbox for the engine under the main rotors is a skillshot. Combined fire may wreck the hull to the point where the chopper will crash, but that'd take a lot of dudes with a lot of guns to get it as it flys by you. Then we heard a chopper coming in, we both saw it and unleashed a hail of 7.62 rounds in it with M107. Went down in about 3 seconds. 2 Angry people craweled out of it. Needless to say, they got poped too. Hits recorded, it was flying badly when we lost visual in the mist. Saw a player death 10 seconds later. US188 NY84 yesterday. Gonna chalk that up as a probable.
