Taking a break from DayZ

Recommended Posts

Me and my group just spent the last 7-8 hours fighting off not 1, but 2 separate groups of players over a helicopter. We finally fight them off long enough to get it repaired, we manage to get it refueled so we start looking for a pad. As soon as we land, a script fag comes in with a rapid fire AS50 and kills us, then proceeds to slide around like fucking gumby.

battleeye can suck a huge bag of dicks.

What's the fucking point?

If your lucky he left the chopper there and jumped to a new sever to cause havoc there.

no my friend said he managed to see him get in and fly, apparently he was teleporting even while in the chopper

Tell me an Anti-hacking software that is 100% guarantee.

Name 1.

But are there any other mods that are being torn apart by hackers on such a constant basis?

Its understood that anti-hack will never be watertight, but the fact remains that DayZ is such a free-for-all for hackers its pretty much unplayable except as a short session PvP game.

Similar feelings as OP; friend of mine and I have been getting a good feel for the game, were pretty well armed and supplied; hacker teleports behind us, kills us, and goes down the line on the server list.

and to Zenatsu, I've been playing games a long ass time and hacking has never been so game-breaking of an issue.

I'm taking a break as well. Just come back to it in a few months when everything has calmed down and there's some new content.

It depends on the popularity, a better question would be are there any other games / mods that are as popular as DayZ that "don't" have hacker problems... the answer is no.

All popular online games have problems with cheaters, it is a constant war, they update their hack, then the anti-cheat updates, bans a chunk that had been too stupid to update their hack, and the cycle continues.

This has always been the way.

At least it is apparent in some other games. In DayZ it's pretty much non-existant. Couple this with the restriction on admins when it comes to banning the hackers pretty much have a field day wherever they go.

Admin are allowed to ban hackers. They just need some proof, which can be a pain, but yea, they are allowed.

I can't. However I can name plenty of anti-hacking software that aren't 0-5% guarantee.

Yea i havnt really played in a week because of hackers. I refuse to work to get gear and get script killed by fags. I just run around cherno and elektro trying to kill ppl. Screw going up north to gear up.

The fact that the engine / BE lets players teleport around speaks volumes, server sided detection for that isn't that difficult

(did that player just move 1km in less than a second? Well derp, he might be hacking)

To those defending BattlEye...

No anti-hacking or anti-cheating software will ever be 100% secure. On that note, I've never personally seen one do a worse job than BattleEye manages to do. I'm sure there are worse systems in existence, but very few if any are actively used on such a popular mod/game franchise. Simply because there may be a program worse, somewhere out there, does not give BattleEye any excuse to do such a poor job of safeguarding against hackers. I have never seen a game, or a mod for that matter, be torn apart by hackers as much as this one is. I've been lucky thus far in that I've only had a handful of experiences with the hackers in this game, though I'm sure that'll change soon.

The fact is, I shouldn't have to fear that a hacker will swoop down at any moment and destroy everything I've worked for in my current life with such ease. This game is basically a pseudo-mmo. It has many elements that would classify it as an mmo, and many detracting from it. It's rather unique in what it is. However, I don't think any other mmo developer (or any developer, for that matter) would tolerate such rampant hacking. Imagine the virtual (and physical) rage if hackers could teleport everyone playing EVE Online to one spot, and then kill them all? It's an epidemic and it needs to be stopped, and BattleEye is doing a poor job at both prevention and solution. Either BattleEye needs to step up its game, or rocket should switch to another service for the standalone version. I understand that much of this may be due to the Arma II engine itself, but again, this is something that should be adressed asap by anyone in any position of authority to do so.

Still funny I have been playing for two and a half months almost and I have only ever died to hackers once. My present character is on day 25. Maybe its just a region thing, and some regions have less hack kiddies.

You've been lucky, that's it. I said the same thing for the first 2 months of playing... but in the past 3 weeks I've been teleport killed twice, had a hacker swoop in behind me with a crossbow that shot bolts as fast as an M4 shoots bullets (followed by wiping all tents/vehicles on that server), and then just tonight a hacker teleported every player on the server to the NWAF for a shootout (I aborted, luckily).

It's not region based. Hackers just go down the list of servers one by one by one. Or randomly. And you, sir, have been lucky, nothing more.

Ha, and I thought Punkbuster was bad! BattlEye is a steaming pile of zebra shit.
