Sniper / Pistol Combo, What Should I Use When?

EDIT: I'm using a DMR and M1911

So I got my first sniper rifle today, but I'm typically an "on the move" type of player. I won't be sitting on a hillside to take pot-shots at people I don't even plan to steal supplies from. So, I'm wondering when I should be using my pistol and when I should be using my rifle. Please tell me what weapon you'd suggest using in the following scenarios:

1) Running through thick forests

2) Approaching lone buildings

3) Moving through cities / buildings

Obviously the pistol is better for clearing zeds because of the audible range, but are the semi-auto rifles like the DMR bad enough at close combat that I should switch to my pistol?

Aussies are classically not very quick on their feet.

I'd suggest using a mid-power assault rifle with a scope. The scope will allow you to check out areas ahead of you before you approach, the semi/full flexibility will keep you viable at a variety of ranges as opposed to the "plant your ass on this hill here" sniper rifle style.

1) DMR (Incase of fire fight)

2) DMR (20 rounds fast firing, hip fire that bitch)

3) M1911 (DMR will pull way to much, either stash it in a tent and find a crossbow/1887 and use them)

My current loadout is M1911, Crossbow (It's a beast once you got 6 rounds, it does 4.4k damage) Mk48 and all the gagets/coyote backpack.

I'm a constant sniper and I've found that carrying a silence assault rifle is much more helpful than a pistol. I generally only use a pistol to take out a lone zombie or something of the sort. An M1911 is a sniper's best friend when dealing with zombies or when approached off-guard by a player.

Regarding carrying an assault rifle: I would suggest having a Coyote pack and having 3 AR mags with you at all times. The type of rifle doesn't matter, but if it's silenced, you'll survive a lot longer than lobbing shots out of a loud ass AK or something of the sort. Generally, if you're a lonewolf, having a sniper isn't a bad idea, but if you're running with a team, it's their responsibility if you're firing on a player to protect you.

My squad appreciates the damage and the confusion a sniper can cause, therefore we tend to protect them on various levels. If you're running with a team, I suggest you ask them to cover you.

learn to headshot noob or shoot them in the leg so they dont run if you know how to aim m9sd beats any pistol. carry an m9sd, akm, and sniper rifle and youre set for your pvp

pistols are shit in general for pvp unless youre fighting noobs in cherno without guns and the nerf will go through soon so enjoy your one shots

No, i killed a man who had a M4 SD, he fired a whole mag into me (Or near me at least) (I was also in one of the red barns) I returned fire with the M1911 and killed him, an M9SD wouldn't have done that simply because it's weak, you don't head shot in PvP you just hit anywhere on the damn target, you will either break his/hers bones and/or knock them out!

well if youre on the coast maybe but why did you not have a lee or a ak you shouldnt be in situations where you have to pvp with a pistol unless youre bad or on the coast which why would you have an m9sd on the coast lets not be silly

if youre a sniper and you have an m4sd or bizon in your bp then sure have a 1911 but youre going to want a sd gun if youre sniping and m9 is super quite and easy to take out zombies

i usually have an akm or some assult rifle when sniping but pistol id rather always hhave m9sd

also judging by your loadout youre not a sniper...

i lold..and i'm an Aussie. ..apparently we aren't much chop at swimming anymore either ;)

If i happen to have a dmr/svd whatever, i keep it backpacked in towns and have my Kobra out , once out of towns it is Kobra to the backpack and scope out.

My m1911 still one shot kills too, but i generally dont give a rats, if i have a few zeds on my tail i always double tap to make sure..Its only bullets :) and you can always get plenty of 1911/ revolver ammo. Definitely the m9sd seems a bit light on, i wont even pick that thing up anymore, i would have the mak over it any day.

I don't really like this guy's attitude.

In my opinion, there are more reasons to carry around an M1911 than a silenced M9. Sure, it's quiet but if you really knew "how to aim", then you'd be able to get away with something noisier. After all, you could cap the bastard that came to investigate.

if youre somewhere looting the goods a sniper or good bandit isnt going to come "investigate" your 1911 shot they will wait and snipe you or have a sniper watching them if they do go to you..also id rather not have some bastard come investigate me
