A Few Q's...

Recommended Posts

Alright first question; is killing zombies a good way to farm food? Or is it a waste of ammo? I find going to the supermarket dangerous and creating a fire etc. just seems like a long process. Do I just need to balls up and go on supermarket runs?

Second Question; me and my friends want to create a "home base" while we play. This so we have a good place to meet and store loot we have found during loot runs. Is creating a "base" a good idea at all? Or should we just keep are clan on the move so we don’t get ambushed? And if it is a good idea what’s the best place? I would assume out in the middle of nowhere so we don’t draw the attention of unwanted visitors.

Thanks for the help in advance!

1) Make fires beside trees. Don't make fires at night.

2) Go to a store for food and drink, but make sure you are ready for company.

3) It is better to make a base when you have played for awhile. Learn the game, and then you make one. Yes, going north to make a base is the best.

1. Killing zombies isn't a good way to farm food, food on zombies is pretty rare unless your lucky, you would usualy get bandages and empty tin cans. Creating a fire in day isn't as dangerous and so is the supermarket depending on where you are. Go with someone to the supermarket 2 is always better than one.

2. If you protect it like a fortress its a good idea, use a wire fencing kit, somewhere away from the coast where players won't go.

As you begin your journey on DayZ it's very easy to believe that hiding from zombies is what you should mainly focus on. However once you've started to play the game for quite some time you'll learn that zombies are the least of your worries. As long as you engage them with bullets when they come after you that they're not exactly a waste of ammunition. Hoarding up ammo just for use on players is extremely useless. When engaging others you'll use maybe a clip to two, never an excess amount.

Lighting fires, throwing flares, and using chemlights all are dangerous. They attract a vast amount of zombies that are within the area, which goes for your flashlight as well.

Looting supermarkets are a good idea, especially when you're starting off. It'll supply you with your basic needs to survive and that slight push to send you back into the world with the ability to live longer.

As you loot more and more you will come upon a tent. However it's suggested only to make a base with the thought in mind that everything you stash has a chance of being taken. No questions asked.

1) Farming zombies for food is poop. You can raid supermarkets, just stay out of the popular cities. Hunting animals and using a fire to cook the meat may be a pain, but you get 800 blood per steak instead of 200 from yo beans.

2) You can technically make bases with tents and some people put up wire, but honestly there is nothing really secure about these unless they're hidden. With current game mechanics people can log in where they want so if you put up some type of wall or set up a base in a building, they can always log in behind your defenses.

Thanks for the advice guys. One last question....

Is the spawn locations for helicopters random on each server? And how many crash sites are there, just one I assume?

Set up a camp close to a water source, and food source. Hunt and use your canteen. Pretty simple really, and rather boring.

Ive found three crash sites numerous times on servers(so at least three... probably more per server)... and yes they are pretty random. They dont spawn gear after intial spawning, so a server that resetts regularily is more likly to have a non looted chopper, increase yah chances at being the first to find one.

Ooh... let's play "giving my unsupported opinion in the form of a single adjective". Ugly used boring already... so I'll use... fucky.

The guns in this game are fucky, they do too much damage!

That's yet another episode of... my unsupported opinion!
