Server Ownership?

Recommended Posts

Hi, i was just wonder if i could get help getting everything i need to know to get my own DayZ server, as i am very tired of the current one i am with most of the time as the server owner has repeatedly state "Yea well, i pay for the server so i can do this and this and you cant, its mine". I have read the requirements on the forum for the server, and the only one i am not 100% sure i have, is the 2 TB of bandwidth, which i will have to figure out my self. But, i want to know actually where i can start the process to get the server and begin paying for it. I am not sure what it means by i have to find a server provider, as i thought it was through the DayZ group itself... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, please let me know if this inquiry would be best placed elsewhere!

Know before you buy, read the forums well my friend, know before hand what to expect as a server Admin, read the post by other Admins, the challenges of renting/owning/admin a DayZ server. Not trying to pee on your parade, just being honest with you.... read, read, read.

Yup yup... I've read a few saddening stories of admin/owners that failed to follow the rules.

So my recommendation is that you:

Build and run an Arma2 OA dedicated server either off your home pc or wherever to build a level set of knowledge

Then decide if you want to run DayZ Mod for that server

The Dayz community are not experts on Arma2 OA server deployment, as a general rule, so questions regarding how to get x or y to work (mostly with the base arma 2 environment) can go unanswered.

Start Here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Dedicated_Server

Good Luck, oh and just to be clear....its harder to run a server than it looks B)

If you dont know much about setting up servers Vilayer is a gd option. They set everything up for you take care its whitelisted you get the server details in the mail and thats it. But setting up your own dedicated server also a gd choice if you got some exp on that.
