Cannot join servers

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I use to be able to play dayz but recently, I can't. I'm not able to even get in the game through the six launcher but I do get better results by going through CO. Every time I try to join I get a message saying that it requires downloadable content that is not available or has been deleted with this list, dayz_code, dayz_config, dayz_wepons, and dayz_vehicals. I recently switched all my games from one drive on my computer to another for capacity reasons. I have ran both Arma2 and Arma2:CO before I ran the mod. Can you help? I have to show my friend this game (who has a mac and can't play) by the end of the week and want it to run without to many problems.

I installed the beta patch and it still wouldn't let me join a server. If it helps when I try to play OA, I get an error saying "No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgInGameUI/MPTable.shadow'. then a message "Error compiling piel shader PSSpecularAlpha:0"

From what I have seen, the message "...requires downloadable content that is not available or has been deleted with this list, dayz_code, dayz_config, dayz_wepons, and dayz_vehicles" refers to the fact that you are trying to join a DayZ server but the mod is not active.

If you are launching from Steam, right-click on the "Arma2: Operation Arrowhead" listing in your Steam library. Choose the option at the bottom, "Properties". On the first tab named "General" look at the bottom and click on "Set Launch Options...". In the Launch Options window there is a box that you can type into at the bottom. As a minimum you need to add "-mod=@DayZ;ca" (without the " " quotes). Type no space before the '-' and no space after 'ca'. This will tell Steam to use the mod. EDIT: In case you don't know when you launch from Steam you must also choose the Combined Operations launch option. "Launch Arma2: Combined Operations"

NOTE: Just for extra info; I also use these; -nosplash -world=empty

NOTE: For any extra options like these there is a space between each different option

If you are using Six Launcher it will automatically use the -mod=@DayZ;ca option and the option indicating that it will load the beta version.

If you are launching from a desktop shortcut you will need to right-click on the shortcut and choose "Properties". In the target window you will see that it is pointing to the executable to use and any options after that. For example:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe" -mod=@DayZ;ca -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -world=empty -cpucount=4 -exThreads=7

Breaking that down you see the following:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\arma2oa.exe"

This is the path to the regular executable. (Double quotes are required)

-mod=@DayZ;ca

Tells Arma2 to load the @Dayz mod and Combined Operations

-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion

This option tells the game to load the expansion's beta executable

-nosplash

-world=empty

These last two make the game load faster by not loading the Bohemia Interactive logos and preventing the game from loading game models on the main screen (like ships, hummers, etc.

I hope this helps.

Would it matter if The mod itself is on a different drive than my Arma files?

(eg Dayz is on C:\ and Arma is on D:\)

I've tried what James said and it still hasn't worked. I've re installed Arma2: OA (because that is the one that is giving me error messages at start up but not CO) I've re installed six updater twice and moved it to my D:/ drive as that is where my Arma files are. Here is what shows up in order when I start a server:

(in a window) "No entry '.profilePathDefault'."

(Day z background shows up and loads for a bit)

(Now a background with a solider and an apc with a message) "No entry 'bin\config.bin/RsclnGameUI/RscHint/Background.type'."

(close message and a new one shows up with CO main menu behind it) "No entry 'bin\config.bin/CfgVehicles/Land_Shed_M01.camouflage'."

(In the main menu now, go to multiplayer and try to join a server when I get this after battle eye (v1.164) message and server greeting) "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.cacharacters_pmc"

Remember, I used to be able to play until I switched all my steam games from my C:/ drive to my D:/ drive

Myself and a friend went around and around yesterday again with such issues.

On your question, there is probably a way to separate the content between C: and D: like you say but I think that the complexity of editing the game configs is much more daunting and problematic than working within the mod setup restrictions.

I would say that you are still seeing the error about "You cannot play edit....." because the @DayZ folder is not directly in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\. That is where the game wants to look for mods. Your option -mod=@DayZ;ca is telling Arma2 that, hey I have a mod and I want to use it when I load but, there is no path information in that string so it wants it to be in the ..operation arrowhead folder within steam. Translation= You cannot play edit this mod because you told me that you have a mod but the files I need to start it for you are not where I know that they should be.

The day before yesterday I went through deleting the OA game from steam, deleting its sub-folder and letting it reinstall from scratch. I then copied the @DayZ mod folder back into it and then I let Six Updater perform the updates fresh for both.

Reading back through your post again I have to ask, is your Steam installation installed on D: completely? i.e. D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ or some such. If EVERYTHING is installed there; Steam, ARMA, OA, DayZ, the game should not care. I stress should not because with programmers you can never tell what secret surprise piece of code is waiting to be discovered that will bust your "I want to run everything thing from my RAM (or SS drive) drive" bubble.

As of last night the only way I could get into a game was to join it from Six Updater because if I launch the mod from the shortcut or steam, I can see no servers. I then search for a game on GameTracker and then use that IP address within the game to directly, or REMOTE, connect to a game. Yeah. Fun stuff! But, that is a different issue.

Alright. I get the gist of what your saying. As of right now, I deleted all files I could find of day z and OA on both drives, as I did find remnants of OA on my C: drive, and re-installing both OA and day z. hopefully that should work because I think it was thinking the OA file remnants in C: were the actual game while the game was actually is D:. But to answer your question about the file path in D: its D:\Games\Steam\... which I think doesn't make to big of a difference as all my other games run fine.

to uninstall dayz you should only really have to delete the @dayz folder where the mod lives. if you do that, six launcher should re-download it for you.

hope you get things working! make sure you are using an updated version of six launcher too - that software is nice but it is not bug free
