Why is killing so thrilling in DayZ?

He's about 200 meters away, he has no idea I'm here, AKM clutched in hand.

One burst. Then two, hit.

He falls to the ground, legs broken and bleeding.

On direct chat he's pleading 'no, no man don't I have no ammo'.

As I walk closer he doesn't attempt to log out or fire with his winchestor.

'Did someone shoot you?' I ask him, to which he replies 'you did'.

Yes, I did.

'Don't worry, I'll make this quick and painless...' I tell him, like a lame horse he must be put down.

'DUDE NO, DON'T KILL M...', his pleas are cut off by a volley of AKM fire, the light fades in his eyes...he's at peace now.

Killing other players in DayZ is AWESOME.

They really really don't want to die, that makes it all the better.

I think it's like winning a race or any other type of competition. You've beaten another human being at something. You came out on top and that person lost.

Deaths feel more significant in this game because for that character, it's the end. They might have spent days to get to where they are and it can all end with one bad turn of events, like bumping into you.

Lol, killing in DayZ is thrilling (so is dying). I once just spawned, went up in a building, found a hatchet, and then some random armed man came in the building and shot me. I don't know if he was hacking though, since I was on an upper floor of this building and it only took him half a second to shoot me.

I just started sniping, and it's awesome! Having a long range rifle makes you king of the world. I can almost taste those sweet tears of people crying a kilometer away because I broke their legs with a single shot. Then one more, carefully placed bullet in the head, and there was silence.

I don't enjoy killing average players. I do it only when i have to - it means just after respawn. I do it because I play alone and got bored of looting the same shit all over again. I dont enjoy it at all... Maybe a bit. Thing that gives me real thrill is hunting those armed bands who drive cars all over the middle and north part of map looking for heli crash sites. I dont even do it for the loot, as usually there are too many of them. After shooting one or two of them I have withdraw ASAP to the safe location. I know that their friends will collect their stuff and later pick them up from the spawn spot but I dont really care. I like to see how they panic, run all over the place, try to hide and later bleed and die. And yes - they kill me from time to time but its totally worth it.

As much as I like this game, it really REALLY brings out the worst in people. Well, kids, it brings out the worst in the kiddies.
