Knurx 0 Posted July 29, 2012 Videos on youtube looked so motivating to play DayZso i bought ARMA II Combined Operations today with the goal to play dayz. After installation i notice a very spongy cursor/crosshair ingame. (core i7 920 / GF 560GTX, constant Fps > 100)"Ok! There must be an option to enable hardware-cursor since Arma II is a shooter"No, there wasnt.I turned off mouse smoothing, disabled vsync, played around with GPU_MaxFramesAhead & GPU_DetectedFramesAhead, turned of pre rendered frames in nvidia settings.Mouse accel is disabled via Registry and verified via mouserecorder. Switched between mouse (Razor Mamba and a casual logitech with 800dpi ... the low DPI Logi works better)... less, but still lagy!On my google research i found few reports about this issue ... and no help.FfffSS! i mean that is a Shooter. I like shooter a lot. How can a shooter feels like an to PC ported Resident Evil? Even World of Warcraft has a precise mouse. For casual player it isnt noticable. I tried on a friends PC ... he mentioned "My Arma/dayZ runs lag free!" ... his mouse doesnt.Iam so frustrated ... 25 bucks for nothing.Yes, i know its a issue due Arma II and DayZ is only a mod. I hope DayZ will move to a better engine soon.

Disgraced 1123 Posted July 29, 2012 Can we make the mouse spongier or whatever to drive away more people like this, please?
enforcer1975 1111 Posted July 29, 2012 Another "motivated by DayZ so i bought ArmA 2 and got caught by reality" thread. You should go to the BIS forums, you should get all the help you need there. Also try to reduce the details to high. Higher settings don't give that much more details but put a ton of stress on your PC. Just thing about it. Unlike every other shooter that has battleground as big as a back yard in ArmA 2 you have a 225km² world with players and entities tha needs to be processed plus the shading model in ArmA 2 is horrible.Or maybe you are just a bit spoiled because you compare it to other shooters which of course have more hollywoodish effects and are supposed to run on a console with 1000 fps. There are also tweaks that you can't do from in game but in the config. There should be a thread in the forum on how to do it.

nevrin 0 Posted July 29, 2012 Make sure you are running Combined operations, not original Arma 2. Keep in mind, that unlike in "Shooters", there is certain maximal turning speed in Arma 2. This is sometimes missinterpreted as negative mouse acceleration/lag. Set your mouse sensitivity to make the movement feel more natural. I even had to set different sensitivity in X and Y axis. There are some acknowledged mouse issues, that arent going to be fixed until Arma 3, but those are minor problems, that dont make the game wholy unplayable. I think this spongy mouse is related to all these "reality features"Thank you for this hint.
