NPC's in military areas

Recommended Posts

I have read some threads concerning clans hoarding vehicles as well and read this thread and came to another solution to that issue.

In conjunction with the idea of soldier AI's, military grade vehicles should have some sort of AI defense with them. Meaning, how likely are you to find a helicopter sitting in the airfield with no one in sight. Another would be a military transport just sitting there. These vehicles should have some AI in them that could deploy out and defend the said vehicle.

So disregard my post of having AI roam the wilderness but rather have AI roam the streets inland in said vehicles.

Longshot idea but have a military helicopter keeping cover over airfields and they will have to land periodicly to refuel.

Again, just a thought on how much further the idea could be expanded.

I like the shoot on site, wandering squads of soldiers idea, as well as the last stand, military outpost idea. How easy they would be to implement, avoid being exploited and what effect it would have on the game as a whole though, I guess would have to be seen.

Alternative use: Military area - Safe haven for the good, hell for those with bad karma?

I mean, this is how we could also use the KARMA SYSTEM. Good peeps can enter and have a safe spot. More or less. If you attack them, you lose the advantage and they turn hostile. But zombies and / or other players could attack. You could help them, and basically reap rewards, such as using the vehicles, or so. Why zombies that may attack? Well, you can actually do something then, unless you want to wait for players who aim to raid the area.

People with bad karma / murderers would not be welcome and hostile, KOS order. You could gain karma there by helping them, say, defending the area when it is under attack (alert triggered by zombies and / or players with bad karma entering or attacking the area, if you kill hostile entities - bandits - you gain karma). With a certain "good reputation" you could then use some of their vehicles freely, perhaps.

Implementing / synching this with the karma system may also prevent "senseless killing", since people who avoid or help other people actually have some sort of actual gameplay advantage, or at least a possible advantage, whereas most murderers may have a disadvantage. If they want to get big loot, they have to fight their way through an army.

On the other hand, you could say this: BUT WAIT! People could just run in without a bad rep and loot, then go!

That is correct. Two options here:

- Looting without good reputation turns them hostile to you (you take their gear without authorization)

- You can't even enter the area without being shot at UNLESS you have a certain amount of good karma (which you may get by helping other survivors by healing, or so

Just some more thoughts!
