... deleting players being offline four weeks or so. Don´t beat me now, maybe it´s a good idea for a little bit more "realism" or care and a "clean" Dayz data server.

As im now 39 years old, i have RL, means I have a job, kids and not all the time to play. We all need vacation sometimes, one week, two or three, maybe more.

As I know, the char is only forced to drink and eat instantly and can´t die being offline a week or more or never?!.

What would happen when the character is forced to eat and drink to full health, to let the 4 week counter reset to start with 4 weeks again. If the player don´t do it, he will be autmaticaly deleted from the DayZ data server after 4 weeks.

So the player has to care a bit more about his char and is forced to eat and drink to 12000 blood once in 4 weeks.

What do you think about that?

Any game mechanic that forces you to play is a bad one IMO.

Although I think vehicles (especialy helicopters) that have been recovered by players (and well hidden) that haven't been moved for an extended period of time should despawn and respawn somewhere else broken.

Obviously I can't say anything for sure or anything official but one or five thousand idle characters is a drop in the bucket for the master server. The clean up routine would probably take more resources than leaving idlers there. I wouldn't mind if there was a reset for 6 month old characters few times a year but I doubt it's on the priority list now.

No. As has been mentioned, a game that forces you to play in order to not lose ingame progress is just horrible game design.

This. Trying to form a drug-dealing relationship with the player is despicable. It scares me listening to what some of the MMO executives think of their own player bases. The ArmA devs hare more respect than that.

Anyone doing iRacing here? The best racesimulation ever?

What do you have to do, to be good, fast and safe on a track? Right, practice.

I was speaking about 1 hour in four weeks or better 6 month then.

And as I said before: "Noone forces someone to play a game, it´s on your own".

I dunno if you got me right.

Tough issue but the more I think about it the more I kind of want a game to take it to that hardcore level, I in no way have ever experienced a game with such a mechanic but I haven't played all the games available either so maybe some do it.

It would make sense kind of, I mean alot of people say it's bad game design but I think their train if thought is stuck on the games that are meant to be fun an rewarding for players and forget that Day Z is the exact opposite.

To say the least it would be an interesting dynamic to experiment with and since this is alpha testing why don't we just say fuck it and do it. I mean we all know there are more than enough "casual games" out there to drown yourself in so lets keep focused on catering to the hardcore community which helped spawn this wonderful game in the first place.

Some people might say it's bad game design I say it's unconventional and ground breaking, just my opinion is all :)
