Some of the ambient sounds are REALLY starting to annoy me.

Recommended Posts

Just two in particular:

1) The big high pitched "BOO! you are scared!" sounds that occur twice in a row.

2) The one that goes on for 5 minutes and sounds like a steam train.

The others are really good, but in a game that mostly lets its gameplay do all the work scaring you these two sounds in particular are really obnoxious.

Are you referring to music?

If so, do what I do: Turn it down and play some Aphex Twin. :p

I presume you are talkingabout the music - in which case turn it down. other than that I love the ambience sounds and the zombie sounds (particularly the new additions - hearing them from the darkness during the night really sends a chill down your spine!).

The music should include the planetary sounds. They are an hour long or so and sound super awesome. A lot are really creepy too.

Haha exactly my idea. Nr 1 gets me really wired up everything I hear it, especially since I did not read that the music is irrelevant to what is happening in-game. Nr 2 just got me searching around for some sort of factory the first time I heard it. After a few minutes it died out and I could not hear it anymore. Only later-on I figured out it was background music.

But yeah, those two really suck to be honest. I'm also thinking of putting some very quiet ambient mix (Aphex Twin), but on the other hand, I'm afraid that that is sometime a bit too much and too happy.

The only thing that gets me is the sound of something hitting chain link.

Puts me on edge every time.

If that is the sound I usually identify as someone shutting a door on a steel-wire fence, I am still not sure whether it is "music" or it is actually a sound-effect of a zombie walking against some sort of steel object.

I'm not sure I'd call it "music" but yes. The thing is I actually like most of the noises and they add a lot to the atmosphere, just those two totally ruin the feel of the game when they come on.

This is a sound effect that plays when you are around buildings, actually not part of the music but effects, it's the same as the bird noises/church bells etc and doesn't mean anything, it just goes off when in proximity to certain areas/buildings, for instance when you are in the woods you will hear horses but i don't think there are any horse models in the game.

But seriously, that stick breaking noise that occurs all the time for no reason needs to stop.

This

Drives me nuts everytime, even though I know that it's just an ambient sound
