Double wielding..

Dual wielding

As the title states, might we ever see dual wielding in game.. it should be with two hatchets. Throw in some combo's and slice off dem zombie heads with a finisher! Also, using your fists might work too.

More buildings to enter

I understand that this is just a test for a standalone game BUT, what I'd like to see is more buildings to enter etc.

More buildings to enter is on the list of to dos. ETA, no idea.

The other part is funny.. but seems more like a dead rising game feature.

As a member of a swordfighting theatrics group, have you tried to fight anything with two fireaxes recently? I don't think they teach that in the army either.

We're not playing Assassins Creed here, and shit, I have trouble weilding a two handed axe and a short sword effectively.

Plus it's probably not possible considering how hamfisted melee combat is-- and being entirely honest I'd only use one weapon at a time against Zombies. Preferably one with a long reach and keep the other one sheathed in case you lose the first one in the pile of corpses.

EDIT: Furthermore we're lucky the Axe gets 10,000 "swing rounds", a normal blade would dull on flesh much faster than that. It's extremely generous. You'd have to sharpen your axe after every few encounters.

Swinging an axe is a lot harder than you would expect. Unless you're the barbarian from Diablo you're not going to be causing any major damage double wielding hatchets (now if they were the size of small hand axes I'd change my tune).

the axe i have here from which i get my firewood weighs ~2.5kg so have fun to get struck with that, it doesn't even need to be sharp to hurt, against your head? your head looks funny afterwards

Congratulations, you've completely missed the advantage of why a weapon is best if it stays sharp. You can still inflict damage with it but jesus christ it'd probably get stuck in the Zombie if it wasn't sharp enough to pull it's way out. Zombies don't care about how much it "hurt". They don't feel pain anymore.

Sure, you want to use the against a player? Be my guest. but in the battle of ingame rock, axe, shotgun, I know what I'm using.

Did you ever cut wood? An axe only gets stuck if you do an unproper hit.

Zombies die when i hit their brain stem, period. Zombies are infected people and thus work like normal people.

The rib cage is by far not solid enough to get an axe stuck, axes work different than swords, swords might not work when they get dull, axes have a different physics than swords.

Because it's physically impossible for a person to improperly hit a person. If your axe has a beard to it, it could easily get caught on a bone or an organ just like it would be used against a sword.

In theory it's a great idea, just headshot the zombie. In practice (and especially considering how fast they move) you're probably gonna miss a lot unless you deabilitate them first. So that means knocking them off their feet with a swing (if you can time it with that insane speed depends how heavy the axe is, how fast you are ect) In an unfortunate situation which will probably happen, you wont get the momentum on the swing before they reach you. So you're going to have to do a short, fast swing like the player animation does by gripping the underneath of the head. It's fast, short, but doesn't have gravity working with it as much and in that given situation, I think a blunt blade isn't helping the situation where the momentum / gravity isn't as great since you're striking from at shoulder height because bitch be up in your goddamn face.

you sure miss your cod akimbo eh?

+Beans

DayZ is built on Arma 2 which prides itself on realism.

Akimbo is no where even remotely close to realism, or even realistic fiction.

Players already complain about the gun hitboxes indoor (yes you morons, getting stuck in doors and the like THATS YOUR WEAPON HITTING THE FRAME, why do you think sub machineguns exist?)

I guess it would make it symetric :)

It looks like people completely overlooked the 'combo fighting system' I wanted to talk about :o
