Yes... why would you take a sniper rifle with 5 shots to kill zombies? bring with Saws and you could kill 200 more zombies or considering we are at the russian province kalashnikovs.. not only is it unrealistic to bring with those but it is stupid to have 1-hit kill rifles in this game. Colditz 54 Posted July 27, 2012 I agree, seeing how Sniper Rifles can make the game extremely easy for people to play and provoke a "Let's hunt Survivors!" kind of playstile, sniping should be made harder. The ArmA2 modification ACE show's excellently how it's done. I don't think it'd be hard to implement a feature where wind would affect the bullet trajectory/speed. ivan keska 39 Posted July 27, 2012 I agree sniping should be much harder in game because I've owned a precision rifle and have shot targets out to 400 yards it's not something anyone can do, because wind does play a factor, the round does to, how you control your breathing, and more. Also I'm guessing the ammo being used by the precision rifles and sniper rifles in game is ball ammo which is a terrible round to use when sniping.I think they should have a way to control breathing and also get rid of the zeroing feature until you have to zero the rifle your self also have different quality levels of ammo since that makes a huge difference. Plus a way to support the rifle thus giving stability well aiming, unlike now where you don't make use of a bipod, wall, sand bag, or other things. Maybe there stuff from the ace or project reality of mods that can be used.Also carrying a 50 cal rifle is insane in this game because if you've ever just held on in your hands in real life, you'll think "i hope i never have to carry this thing around for more than a mile" because the gun is heavy and the ammo does help one bit. Just remove zeroed .50cals and replace them with ksvk and other sniper rifles that are lower caliber.zeroing on .50cals is fine, but what i`d like to see that m107 and as50 were replaced by barret m99, approximately same shit, but its a single-shot rifle, in arma its means 1 cartridge per mag, and they can be refilled via relog. and issue with amr rifles is solved. Baelethal 102 Posted July 27, 2012 I'm not a great DayZ player. I'm not really a marksman. I don't dare even pick up a sniper, because I know that I'd be garbage at it. It's not my thing. However, I don't believe sniping needs to be any harder, per se. Sniping is "easy" because you're giving them a stationary target to shoot at. I've been hit on the run once in game. I gave silent props to that guy. It was a solid shot.Most "snipers" I've met in game truly aren't that great unless the target is sitting perfectly still or is moving in a manner that's extremely easy to track, and even then you need to accommodate for bullet travel time.There are known "sniper holes". Know where they are and where you are in relationship to them and route accordingly.I guess I don't really feel that sniper rifles need to be changed.
