No its not, Are you telling me that nearly half a million dayz players didn't factor into the recent patch? come out from under your rock for a minute, arma2 a 2010 game that was "fine" for all those years suddenly nerfs the crap out of weapons over 2 years later !!!! and you tell me that has nothing to do with DayZ?

half a million players compared to what? 20,000 arma2 players? hmm i wonder who gets the attention....

Aside from that nowhere did i refer to the current nerfing as being attributed to dayz, what i did say was the current state of dayz can not successfully accomodate this nerfing.

Are the majoriety of weapons worth having anymore?

The game IS too clunky too work properly with the current direction this nerfing is leading toward. So much more needs to be fixed before trying this.

I see the intention of nerfing weapons so zombies are more of a threat that i agree with ... on paper, just like this arma2, on paper it sounds the best engine but in reality/practice it is flawed to all hell. (inb4 the people who are going to say gtfo if you don't like the difficulty (as they convenantly forget they have vehicles full of weapons that actually "work" akm, dmr etc that they run to anytime they are killed.)

The mod in its current state has too many issues - desync/lag, numerous clipping problems and the obvious knightmare that is arma2s inventory system. TRUELY Fix those then start tweaking the difficulty. (though i guess you are flogging the last mileage out of the mod before standalone?)

Every patch has slowly stiffled the limited abilities of the engine.

In short the weapons nerf is far too soon for the current state of the mods development.

Side note.

Those in clans/groups are enjoying the current patch direction (i would too if i had vehicles and near endless supllies) BUT those who lonewolf style are having an extremely difficult time,

I'd be for this IF people actually did group up, maybe it will happen over time but having been sniped at North EAST airfield and shot in the back whilst carrying an AXE (he gottsa has that axe!) I doubt it.

I play in a team of two. Most of the time I'm a lone wolf. I have a good time. We do have our bases, but most of the time we are just hoarding stuff. I can't remember when I actually picked a gun out of a tent. The thing is that it got so easy for me to get a rifle in the game. AKM feels so common for me by now! Hack even red dot sight AKS-74s! That's why I would like to see a reduction of advanced weapon spawns (as crazy as it sounds). Of course duping must be fixed first!

What really makes my life to easy in the game is the fact that all magazines on your character will be refilled after you respawn. I would really like to see how this game place when this gets fixed. It would be nice to see if I would really drop my M14 for an Enfield just because there is more ammo for it. ... or ... would I stick to my PDW that can use M9 and G17 mags, but has a bad iron sight and needs 4 body shots for a Zed? Oh this excits me! ... even if I will cry for leaving my lovely M14 behind...

Good point. Are you sure that only DayZ weapons are nerfed? Maybe a mod can't modify the damage of a weapon. Altough patching a whole game for a single mod sounds crazy and irrational as f*.

Thank you (i'd almost shout thank the lord ;P ) for constructive critiscism rather than just blowing my question off as me not knowing arma2 nerfed the weapons and not dayz (as others have implied.)

re: other arma related game/mods experiencing the nerf, i'd guess that as a yes. in other words yep, irrational as f* :D

I truely hope so, the nerfing is too extreme.

At 1st i considerd it to be a good move as in scarcity of ammo because you need more. This was when i had an akm and 15 clips for it, a G17 and an m1911 and the largest back pack (1 above alice), a tone of stacked food, 8 morphine etc etc

Then i was sniped at my "base" where i'd collected a small arsenal but having gone 'naked' lonewolf again it now it seems a "bridge too far"

I'd suggest pistol (if not rifles to) need about a 25% boost, not to original power but so 2 shot kills per pistol & certainly 1 shot to the torso per HIGH powered rifles

... OR....

maybe leg shot detection would be another option, shoot zeds in legs they go down at least. Could that balance the nerfing a little?

I know this is possible as often you'll see zeds drop to the ground when shot from a distance of 150+ meters.

Well, the new patch is a doozie.

After three servers got me stuck on loading (waited 5 minutes before alt-f4), on the 4th. server, I got spawned to the freegin beach, with gear intact.

Went from being in a firestation in Cherno, to some beach just west of Elek. Saved me the long walk but this patch is out of control.

I can understand a lot of the complains, but I have to say that I like them!

-Gun nerfs (by BIS?):

That was a REAL surprise to see that my 1911 took more than 3 shots for a Z. I almost thought that the Zeds were bugged. I like some changes of the nerfs like the Enfield nerf. In my opinion the revolver and 1911 should be at least a 2 shot kill for Zeds or they are pretty much pointless. MP5 feels more useless now. Maybe it's just me...

I like the changes for the AKs. Now there is a reason or fact to switch to M4s, AKMs and M16. Before that a switch was pretty much pointless (beside iron sights).

-Tents and duplicating

At least fix duplicating. Item inflation blah blah. You know the deal.

-Zeds LOS

It kinda feels unnatural too me. It's not too bad though.

-Zeds audible range

This makes them a real threat. Before the update I had no problem at all when firing my M14 in a city. Now this gun can bring me into big big trouble! It makes weaker guns like the AKs or MP5 attractive for city raids.

Before the update Zeds were annoying. Because if you alert them, you might also alert other players. Now they are a threat again! That's good. I just feel that the respawn rate is a bit too high. Zeds should also spawn in a radius of 1000m to a player. Why? Right now you can easily tell if a player is a town, by searching for Zeds in the distance. This is way to game breaking to me!

-No respawn

Makes me value life more. Your friends are in Solnichy and you respawn in Kamenka? Bad luck! Might be more careful next time.

We're just used to respawning. That's all. We are used to it as much as I'm too much used to the debug monitor (and oh boy how much I will miss a blood status with numbers when it might be gone!!!).

-Graphic glitch

Sucks. Happened to me in every update (since two months so far though).

You spawn in Kamenka, but died in Elektro, want to take revenge and get your body? Not anymore! Happened to me and did it to a guy to test it's effectiveness. It worked way too good. Now it stopped. I hope this brings a lower deathmatch level to Cherno and Elektro.

BTW: Spawning in Kamenka is not bad at all! The city has some nice loot places and there are three deer stands next to it.

Spawning in Solnichy is spawning close to Berezino etc.

Take your time and explore the smaller cities and places. There is plenty of stuff!

I'm satisfied enough that I can respawn when I have a broken leg. That's very helpful. Big thanks for that option! I just hope that people don't exploit it too much, but if they really invest the time, they could've also take the time to friggin' walk the distance!!!

I noticed it by myself on how low I valued my fresh spawned character. Got killed? doesn't matter! Just press respawn for some time until you're back in the place you died. I hope this makes me value my char at a much earlier state of progression.

I would like to see some item spawns reduced. Right now I got almost everything that I ever wanted on my char (beside NVGs and Ghillie). So what`s left? Well at least me and a friend try to build a fort with sandbags, barbed wire, tents and steel hedgehogs... but let's assume that I didn't got the idea to do that! Well I would be left to try my first M107 on cows in 1000m distance. When I've mastered that, than I would be left with PvP and trying it on players. Yes it's a sandbox game, but I need more content and more stuff to do! PvP out of boredom doesn't feel right to me. There should be more in this game (as you hopefully planned). PvP is fine though. I just feel like we need way more purposes to live beside PvP and gathering loot. Survival isn't that much of an issue after some time.

Well I like the patch and like the direction the game is heading. This game gives me an experience that no other game can. It sounds harsh, but well... if you don't like it: Move on. Try another game. You might find the game experience YOU've always wanted. Stop wasting your time here and whine about wasted potential about YOUR vision of this game. It's rocket's vision. You and me don't have to agree with it. Especially when it's a F2P mod.

Best post I have seen in a very long time--doing our actual job as testers with feedback that is both positive and critique, and not being a whiny dick like so many people so easily slip into. Nicely done, sir.

Also I agree with all these observations. Particularly would like to see Zeds spawn less frequently (and not so ridiculously close to the point that you literally see them appearing in front of you), and the ammo regen glitch get fixed. That alone would jump up difficulty fantastically.

So exactly what update haven't I , Commander or SixUpdater applied?

Battle eye updated, installed 95389, playing on 95389 servers i don't see what else can be updated....

It wasn't pushed from there. It was BIS that pushed it to the actual ARMA game. It wasn't an update for the mod. To be honest, i'm not really sure why you didn't get it, but I still as of 2 minutes ago, can't kill a zombie with less that four body shots with the M1911.

Just finished a load more playtime, 5 hrs ish (95389 & 1.7.2.4)

Did some normal dayz shit got killed got kitted again and drove over most of the map

This was messed up tonight

Loading times longer than last night, lots longer

Artifacts

Still couldn't fill water bottles

Animals couldnt retrieve food after gutting

Got shot right through a truck?? how is that even possible

Lag ffs Laaaaaaggg lots of it my m8 was down to 9 frames in the countryside normally 50-60 (we play on same server all the time)

zombies i have no idea what they are doing anymore

Some standing stock still, some ambling about even though you stand 2 feet in front of them, some spannering without even seeing us

really bad desynching in vehicles ,worst we have ever known

Players sliding sideways quite a lot

Its a bit fucked up guys, hopefully someone is looking into it

Its definatly getting worse.

as i said in a previous post i am running 1.62.0.95839 NOT 1.60.0.XXXXXX

The 1 possible thought was my char and the m1911 were started/found pre update (though after 1.62 release) - i specifically tried 3 servers and shot 80 zombies with the m1911 to make sure that what i was saying was fact that i was able to kill zeds after the update with 1 shot using an m1911. This char is now dead (thanks dmr 1 shot) so i cant fraps the proof. All i can say is 80+ zeds all non headshots, 1 shot kill with m1911. bug? most likely - why else would i have "reported" it?

Can i join 1.7.2.3 servers using the 1.7.2.4 patch? Is it backwards compatible? Or do i need to roll back?

The servers that i usually play are all going back to 1.7.2.3 due to the huge amount of issues in the latest patch, i guess i'll do the same.

rocket - Wasn't aware of this guys, thanks for the heads up. Will see what I can do. I'm reluctant to overwrite base ArmA2 classes because that is a lot of work maintaining it.
random redditer- seems you could leave those be, and just up the damage by a multiple in DAYZ to get it back to where it was? i am probably incorrect.

rocket - That's what I am thinking. But I need to discuss it and make sure the approach is good. In all honesty, my damage/medical system needs a complete rewrite. It is one of the oldest and hackiest parts of the mod currently.

Weird, I updated it as I always do, manually, and it works perfectly fine, normal connection speed, graphics are ok, pretty nice overall, I must be some kind of hacker or genius, seeing how so many people are fucking unable to do it <_<

Running 95417 and the 1.7.2.4.

I was getting massive cpu bottle neck today only 23 fps when i normally sit on 60 fps. This happened ages ago with one of the old patches and a hotfix was released, something to do with loot cleanup or maybe ai issues is chewing up all my cpu cycles.

I was on a server tho that was only running 95389 tho so that could have been it. Either way i was having CPU USAGE ISSUES.

if you have a quad core processor use -exthread=7 in your startup parameters for your DayZ shortcut. If you have no idea how to do this you should A. google or B. give up all hope.

Updated through 6 updater today. Played for about 2 hours this afternoon. Noticed some significant FPS drop. Seemed choppy this patch..

As far as the login issues. None. I was able to jump into a server and it logged me right in. I didn;t noticed any speed up as far as the loading is concerned.

Saw a bunch of Zeds on the ground, the crawler ones not moving. They seemed stuck.

Seemed more loot than the average games I have had in the past, not sure if this is intentional or it was just a good day.

95417 and 10.7.2.4

Noticed some of the choppiness people have described, but in terms of overall gameplay a big improvement. I now think twice about unloading in towns. I've almost gotten killed twice by zombies for once. Fewer desyncs and lag problems. No negative affect on tents or vehicles either (no wipes and all inventory there). We even found a ghille and swapped it between a few players. Everything works great except the FPS issues, which were minimal and happened few and far in between.

Great job guys!

I suppose I should mention I haven't played in heavily populated areas like cherno and elektro. We did drive an ATV into Berenzino though to get some med supplies and encountered some hostiles. again, everything was looking pretty smooth.
