this is ****, how a revolver can do the same damage than an m1911, this gun use a gas system so have less stoping power than revolvers, is the same for the lee enfield, is a bolt action, so doesnt use part of the energy in charge new ammo, and is more powerfull.

wat

Took me a full 6 rounds to kill a zombie with my revolver. IRL, 2 shots to a person honestly could take them down. A zombie should just take 1.

I doubt that chart is correct, I tested the guns offline in ArmA2 and the Makarov needs 6-7 rounds to kill a soldier why 9mm guns and .45ACP guns need 3-4.

That proves the chart lol

Anways, the chart is correct. e. g. Enfield takes 2 hits to kill.

WTF , v1.62 did screw things up.

most weapons have been nerfed. apart from the obvious m1911, previously lee enfield required 1 shot to kill, now it's 2 wtf. what about the other guns??

p.s. previously

- lee enfield did 2.3 damage at 100m, 2.1 damage at 800m.... not sure what it is now, but obviously it takes off less that 1.0 as it requires 2 hits to kill. wow, nice bug.

- the player has 1.0 health, with weapons taking off some (like the makarov which was 0.333) or all (like the lee enfield which killed the guy twice over at 100m by taking off 2.3)

1. Sight revolver at targets head.

2. Pull trigger.

3. 1 Shot one kill.

Not really possible when you have to kill a zombie on open field.

Wat? There is no damage dropoff. Enfield does 6722 (now) on all ranges. And with your weird system the Enfield should have done around 1.05 damage before Patch and 0.52 damage after patch.

One and half makarov clips to the head of a cow to take it down.

One round from M4a3 cco + multiple makarov rounds to kill one Zed.

Not enjoying new weapon damage here

Well, submachine guns were terrible primary weapons even before. Now they're even more useless. In real life zombie apocalypse I'd probably be thrilled to find a submachine gun, as they're potentially more devastating than assault rifles at close range, are somewhat more quiet and are shorter. In DayZ I'll rather use a hatchet.

I don't really agree with the AK74 + variants nerf either. Nor the Lee Enfield one. The pistol nerfs may be fine against zombies, but it's ludicrous that a full clip of most of the pistols isn't enough to kill a player with chest shots.

Really don't like it, too. Revolver to weak, and M1911 is also too weak. A little nerf for the M1911 and the Enfield would be OK. All other nerfes are unnecessary. MP5 useless, PP-19 even more useless and almost every pistol is useless now. I think carrying a flashlight hurts zombies and player more than carrying a sidearm.

Pistols are completely useless now. May as well carry all bandages.

Learn to aim for headshots. I still one-shot Zs with my revolver. Body shots shouldn't instantly kill a Z anyway.

It should. The changes are Arma related, not DayZ. I hope Rocket includes a fix in the next DayZ patch.

Question: If you have not updated your ARMA II game files do you still deal the original damage with weapons? Or do the servers control damage, or does the latest ARMA II beta 'patch' also include the weapon nerfs?

yea good luck with that when you have four zeds bugging out through a concrete wall to attack you with snipers waiting for you to step out from behind the wall.

Zombies are dead. They shouldn't die from anything but a headshot at all. Walking Dead style.

I kinda agree with that and think that nerfing the weapons is not a bad thing in general.

Lets face it. Zombies are not a real danger in DayZ unless you do something very stupid or have bad luck. Otherwise you lure them into buildings and shoot them. Why? Because you can do it, because you have the ammo.

It is not that hard to find enough ammo to fight 50+ zombies. At least for the common handguns, shotguns and rifles.

I think it is a good idea that you have to think twice about using your ammo, because ammo would be one of the hardest things to find in an apocalyptic scenario. It would make the game harder and would make zombies more of a threat.

Secondly, I think it makes player interaction more passive. My reason to shoot on sight is not because for the fun or because I need the gear.

Most of the times it is because I know that if the other player shoots I'm dead in 2-3 rounds max, having no chance to escape or fight back. With this weapon nerf this thread is taken away so now I can approach other players more trustfully.

Would you be rather shot with 1 M14 round or 10 9mm rounds? Because the damage is the same in this game. That makes no sense. If you want to make it harder, buff zombies up, but don't make weapons shoot marshmallows! Right now it takes 14 9mm rounds to kill a player. WTF!

I haven't tried it out ingame nor did i do the math yet. I just said I like the general idea. As Daddy'o said. It's nonsense that you can kill zombies with one shot to the body.

Needing 14 rounds (if that is correct) to kill a player might be a bit much, though. I agree with that.

And it is not about with what I want the be killed. It is about how I want to be encountered with other players.

If I get killed by a sniper, well then he had a good postion or I was not careful enough. But when I run into another player in appartment building I wouldn't want to shoot him right away because I have to fear that he is going to kill me in one or two shots. I'd rather have the possibility to shoot back or run IF he starts to shoot at me.

I hope you see my point.

Despite the damage nerf, the audibility improvement to the Lee Enfield makes the gun much more usable IMO. You won't be making a zombie flash rave every time you fire the thing now.
