Private servers use their own form of the database so they do not need to connect to the official hive. Drawback being whatever you do stays just on that server. That not neccesarily being a drawback to everyone.

Private HIVE.

Private Hive is a private character database, so your character will be saved on that specific server. Not the public hive. So you can play on private hives without losing your stuff on public hive. But stuff will not transfer between the two.

Not true. Alot of private HIVE owners respect what Rocket has done. They just feel that it isn't the correct route to take. I think keeping characters locked to a server would have saved Rocket alot of trouble in the long run, but it's his mod so he can do what he likes with it.

That's one fucking terrible example. They don't want to rely on HACKERS removing their items in the public database, so they host a private one.

Wow. You do realize Rocket is just using the work of Arma right? I for one like to mess around / mod basically every game I play, DayZ being no different.
